FUTABA Customer Service

Hey Guys,

Are you happy with Futaba customer service and turn around time? I have had no problem with JR customer service what's so ever but a friend of mine who uses Futaba, says their turn around time is slow and they charge $37 or so to expedite your repair if you ask for it. Any of you Futaba users have had any problems with Futaba customer service?

I've never had a problem with them and have always gotten my stuff back fairly quick. I've never had a problem with any of my radios, its just been stuff that I've wanted checked out or repaired after a crash or getting something checked that I've bought used. My buddy kept having trouble with a receiver for his rc truck and after sending it in twice they just sent him a new one, free of charge. So I'd say that they've been really good.

I've only needed Futaba service once, and I'm very happy with the turn around and price of the repair. I think your results depends very much on attitude on the phone, as well as wording the accompanying letter right.

I 100% agree with you on the attitude on the phone and wording the letter right, they do make a difference in the type of customer service you would get. I have experienced that many times. Talk nice and most likley you would get same back!

One of my receivers stopped working, I sent it to Futaba, was charged a fair price around $30, turnaround time was reasonable, after getting it back, it only worked for 10 minutes, I sent it back with receipt, Ten days latter I received a new one with a new crystal for it, that is good service.

Re: FUTABA Customer Service

Had my 9Z totally checked over just 7 months ago and they replaced the antenna and a few odds and ends, then a few months ago a pot went bad. I sent it in and they replaced 3 pots, and charged me $80 for the pleasure. Not too cool in my book.

It could be a freak deal, but when I mentioned it to the guy he sounded miffed that I would bring up that it was just sent in.

Still I will fly Futaba and be happy scrappy, but customer service could use a little lift in my opinion.

the 9 zap is a pain in the ass to pull apart, very time consuming and tricky. i personally replaced the pots (4) in mine when i had one and i would not think twice about paying $80 to have it done again.

That's what my friend says. He wasn't happy about the guys attitude over the phone and the fact when he asked them if they can send it back to him by the end of the week, they charged him $37 just to expedite the repair not to mention other repair and shipping fees. It cost him $140 to buy the receiver new and $80 to have it checked out after a crash. Reciver was working fine but he didn't want to take chances on it. I have no doubt Futaba has good products but you are right customer service needs a lift.

How do you know if it's time to change the pots? Do you see any sign in transmitter performance? I'm very curious. Thanks

Re: FUTABA Customer Service

Thanks guys for your responces. He just bought a JR 10X and selling his 9c that is less that 8 months old in perfect condition with synthesized module and synthesized receiver. Receiver will be back next week from Futaba. He said he didn't want to deal with their customer service anymore. If any one interested in his radio and receiver, I will get you in touch with him. Thanks again, Reza
