I've got one on a hanger 9 extra 260 and it seems to run good. I have'nt flown it yet but it has plenty of power for that airframe. It pulled 6900 rpm on a zoar 22x8 with a jtec wraparound pitts out of the box. And for all of you who think its a dl clone WRONG, its clearly a copy of a zdz 50 go ahead and compare them side by side, the case is the same and zdz is the only engine builder I know of that uses a rotary valve.....duhhhhh!!!

Than we can hope that it runs like a ZDZ but hopefully does not start like one.

Although the bottom end looks like the ZDZ the cylinder is pure DL. I know this because I pulled the jug from my XYZ50HP and it is now running on my DL lower end with reeds and all. Runs great by the way as a DL. The darn thing couldn't get out of it's own way in it's stock configuration running a Xoar 22x8 (5800rpm max and no transition). It was smooth after you finally get it started, usually needed the electric starter when cold. Just no balls at all.

My XYZ is going to be a XYZ55HP maybe the extra displacement will get it out of it's own way. I'm not going to bet on it though!

We measured the temp after the flight at it was around 155 degrees f, and that was with no cowl so it will be hotter once the new cowl is installed.
I only got to fly it once because it was way nose heavy and I spent the first part of day flying my 40% yak and trying to get my new yak (that replaced my edge) to stay running. My da 85 is running like crap now!!

And now the bad news, its a real b@tch to get started so i'm going to try some different methods of priming the engine to get it to start faster and I will mess with the timing to see if that helps. Messing with these little two strokes isnt a big deal for me as I have built a few race engines in real cars and built a one thousand horsepower ws6 trans am. So as soon as I figure this engine out i'll let you know. If you have any questions let me know, now I'm off to see why my da 85 is running like crap!

What happened there? I have my entire universe managed by smart fly gear.
I ve never had not one stinking.problem from those little Red do hickeys.

What is a hoover?Haven't learned how to do that yet.
