Re: Red Aero RC - 50cc MX2 "Gary Ward Scheme" Build.

My son now has his new MX-2 on the way !! Just want to tell everyone that they sure are great to work with at Red Aero, also !! Should have it later this week & it may be in the air by the 4th. but that may be pushing it, not sure yet !! I just orderd another Vess prop & balancing ring & he has a big servo coming for the rudder & I believe we have everything else ready to go right in. I think we're getting excited now !!

Thanks again !!
John

Thanks Guys,

We try to treat folks the way we like to be treated. Plus, Tony's easy-going anyway.

Landing Gear Tip:
Drill holes on either side of the fuel tank above the screw locations. (see photo) Installing the landing gear nuts will be a cinch. Socket is 7mm.

Rudder Horn Tip:
When installing the rudder horns, clamp them together and use a sanding block along the rear edge of the horns to reduce the profile a bit. This will help them slide in easier.

Good luck. Elevator will be sensitive, so maiden on low rates. Use expo.

Good luck and thanks for your order.

The 50cc is very responsive on the rudder and ailerons i suggest a decent amount of expo

New 2-stroke engine oil.

AeroShell has developed the first oil specifically for light 2-stroke aircraft engines.
Up until this point, all 2 stroke oil were formulated for ground-based machines such as leaf blowers and chain saws.
While synthetic oils are good if you run the machine almost every day, AeroShell Sport 2 is formulated to fight the bad things that happen when an engine sets up between run times or durning the winter. Mix ratios are the same as usual and you can run it in the same engine that was running synthetics.

The aircraft engines that we use commonly encounter intense operating conditions i.e. full power take off, cruise descent and idle conditions. Varying power outputs and higher operating temperatures demand a specific 2-stroke oil formulation which will also reduce the formation of deposits and protect the 2-stroke engines’ inherent exposure to corrosion and potential ring sticking.

AeroShell Sport 2 cleans, protects high-stress engine parts, prolongs engine life and can be used in all climate conditions.

It came & thanks !! No damage in shipping, what a gorgeous plane !! It came about 2 pm & just came in from the garage, though with a ton of guys visiting to see his new plane, we hardly got any work done but a little !! I'm stuck trying to figure out the linkage on this one so we may have some questions. I'm going to study the manual now !! Ha !! I just love the way the wings actually go into the fuse a little, nice touch !! I have a couple pics. to post !!

Red Arrow folks... I have a question.

I'm really not trying to start anything, just curious. It seems like virtually every manufacturer has come out in the past year or so with some flavor of Gary Ward scheme on some sort of MX platform. Are these schemes licensed through Gary Ward Airshows, or is there no copyright on the color scheme?

I know a lot of folks were doing bulldog schemes on bipes, which must not have required any license authority, but there were also a few companies recently doing schemes like Patty Wagstaff and Red Bull that got in some hot water for copying what were considered to be proprietary color schemes....

Again, I'm just curious... obviously I do like the colors!

Valid question. We at RedAero have spoken with Gary Ward and he is OK with it. Also Chris Meyer at MX aircraft. Our greatest accomplishment was working with Breitling and being able to use their livery on our MXS-R. All three were receptive and great to work with.

Re: Red Aero RC - 50cc MX2 "Gary Ward Scheme" Build.

Thanks.

I visit the Wilkesboro area from time to time, calling on that area's largest employer... I always want to stop in by the MX factory for a tour, but never seem to find the time.

I did trade a few emails with Gary several months ago, was going to go down with my plane and take some pics together, but agian, my business travel schedule just isn't very friendly with my personal interests!

It's really interesting to see that for my "brand" of MX2, the plane hardly sold at all until they came out with this scheme, now they can't keep them in stock. All you heard were comments about bad flying habits... now with a new scheme, all the bad habits have gone... hmm....

Anyway, good luck with yours, both the MX2 and MXS-R. Great looking planes, and from following the threads, looks like they're well built.

Sounds like what I heard for the Sbach, which I was told is basically a Cap 232.

Hi Reyn3545,

Thanks for your question and participation on this thread. That's what it's all about.

Just to add to Tony's reply.
We also supply merchandise bearing the Desert Aircraft Brand.
We're always respectful of the property of others and never dive-in without working
out an agreement first. Mr. Johnson at Desert Aircraft is a really nice guy if you've ever talked with him.

I also like the Blue and Yellow scheme in your avatar. I think it's as pretty as the green. Not everyone likes green.

I still feel guilty about decapitating one of your pilot figures last year in a crash!
