Straight from the master:

" Spline sanding is to use a long rigid sanding block, or a very flexable sanding block for curved areas like turtle decks, and leading edges. I mount 80 grit sand paper to the blocks and sand cross grain on a 45+ - degree motion; this will remove material fast, and very true by removing all high areas level with low areas. finer grit abrasives tend to polish what is there more than hog down all the high areas. Once the surface is true; I then sand with 180 grit, 320 grit and finally 1500, or 2000 grit prior to covering.
