Zurich sunglasses?

Any of you guys use the Zurich sunglasses when you fly? Just curious if they are a good set of sunglasses for flying.

Re: Zurich sunglasses?

They truly are the best glasses for flying. I just use $20 ones from Walgreens which work for me, but Zurich's definitely rule!

Cool, I thought of ordering a set of the newer slimmer style pair, for r/c and full scale flying

I'd also like to know more about these. A fellow club member has the darker set and he tells me they work great in bright sunny conditions. They have a Blue solid and a Silver solid (Medium) both in rose and grey lenses. If anyone knows, what's the difference in them?

Re: Zurich sunglasses?

try some before you buy... personally I don't like them...
at least the models I tried tend to warp everything at the edges... almost made me sick....

Not saying they are bad, but they just didn't work for me... so try to try some on before you buy

And on the other hand, I have used them for something like 10 years now and think they are great! Currently have four pairs.

Re: Zurich sunglasses?

I haven't tried the stylish ones, but one of the reasons I like the regular ones is because they block the sun from every angle so no light comes in to your eyes. There's also different types for different conditions. My frind has two pairs, a gray pair for when the sun's up, and a blue pair for when it's cloudy.

Re: Zurich sunglasses?

Vic,
I've used them for years ! The older style are the best but they seem to dig into behind your ears after awhile of flying or judging . You need to heat up the arms with a heat gun to relieve the pressure. Then maybe you won't !
The newer stylish ones are Junk. The UV is great but there seems to be no Sun blockage from either side. Mine had a bad distortion in the lens and the arms break easily. which one of them did .Zurich will fix your problem if you have one .

PS: Not trying to knock anything , just speaking from experience. I still fly with the old style Zurich glasses. They have great eye protection whether you young or older..... That be ME !

I love the glasses and the service is the best. You call them on the phone and place an order, and I think they arrived before I even hung up the phone, well, you know what I mean.
The people there are real friendly, and get this, their from California!, Now that's a shock,( I can say that, I'm California born and raised). But seriously great product, and most importantly to me, great service and attitude!.

Re: Zurich sunglasses?

I just tried Popples when he was up at the field. He has the old wrap around style.
Its a different expierence... I had to take them off to land... but I didn't not like them. I think you have to get used to them.
They REALLY change the way things look.

Also it was pretty GRAY out on the day I tried them.. so perhaps they are not the best for dull days? But like I said I noticed a HUGE difference in how thjings looked, but I'm not sure I liked it!?

But they do seem to work!

Re: Zurich sunglasses?

I am extremely anal about sunglasses, which it sounds like some of you are as well.
If any lenses tend to alter the shape of anything (even around the edges) I tend to notice it and it buggers the heii out of me.

For me, when I fly full-scale or RC I use a good pair of Serengeti glasses. They are glass, and the sides conform to my head well...which is a requirement when wearing a headset.

I have another pair of older ones (again Serengeti) I use when driving or goofing off, but I can't risk the slightest nick on the lens of any glasses when I fly or it really bugs me.

They say the Zurich are great, but I also hear they tend to distort some around the edges, like almost all lenses will do. I cannot accept that, so my lens is a bit smaller, but optically sound.
