Re: PAU 30% Sukhoi Su-26m Build and Fly

Right on, John! Can't wait to see these beauties flying!

BTW all, who's coming to Bell-air tomorrow, and what time are ya comin?

It will be good to see ya all! WX looks to be good! Just need a little breeze to get the fog to lift and hope the water has receded just a bit, but no too much, right, John?

CYA!

Jeff

Don't forget to fire up the wood stove. I'll be there as soon as the stove is going and kicking out BTU's.
So tell me, does everyone have one of these Suk's now or what................................

Ryan,

Your new prop will last longer if stop trying to cut the grass with it!

Mental note: no more trying to kill field moles with PAU props.

Sadly, I think my new prop is going to last quite a while with the weather we've been having this week.

I'll get the Suk together sometime today and list the throws I have on low rates. I was very comfortable flying this plane at the CG and throws I used for the first flight. The CG I used was about 1/2" in front of the front part of the wing tube. There is room for it to come back and still be comfortable for flight, and you can balance it a little further forward as well to suit your flying style.

Oh, I'm still on for Sunday as long as the weather looks good. Been pretty disappointed with the weather forecasting where I live. I just want to fly this thing!

Yep, it's looks like they confused Sunshine with fog in the forecasts.

Hey Ryan, got any pics on what cutouts you did on the bottom of the cowl? Just curious what you did there..

Here's what I did, in addition to the cutout in the cannister tunnel. Should be pretty similar to a DA-50 install. Even if you are using mufflers I'd recommend cutting out the cannister exit to ensure there is enough exit air. That round cowl really provides for a lot of inlet air.

Another thing to make sure you do (as Ryan has done) is to make sure you protect that metal braided ignition cable with plastic wrap. If not the fiberglass will act as a saw and cut right through it.

From the chipping I'd say Ryan needs to cut out the outlet where the plug is even more.

I don't have an accurate scale (or any scale for that matter) so I haven't weighed mine. If someone brings a scale out this weekend I'll try to get a weight for you.
