I'd like to see the OV-1 Mohawk also, Zoomer.
I would build on. I was Airborne sensor operator on one in the 70's. 1042 Military Intel Co., Airborne Surveillance.

Hi All,
I have been looking at the Don Smith P-47 for a while and noticed that it is a razorback canopy model. Is it possible to convert it to a bubble canopy model.

Regards
Aaron

WARBIRDS! gotta love em. Heres the last one I built. If you have an electric powered warbird, we would love to see it at WATTFEST2011! heres a link in case you are in the West central Florida area in October.

The current work in progress:

http://www.rcgroups.com/fuel-warbirds-173/ (build thread)

Future plans after getting it flying for the rest of this year are

1. strip current paint, apply flight metal to wing, fuse, control surfaces..decide on paint scheme
2. some sort of cockpit (mulling over that one due to servo tray placement in fuse)
3. Air retract tail wheel with working doors

I like the look of a mustang clean, no pylons, no drop tanks (came with some plastic ones that could be doweled to the wing..no thanks..LOL) screaming down low at full throttle.

Engine: Cermark Melody 35 CC Gas (its already here..just waitin on prop and spinner)
Prop: Zinger 4 blade dual pitch 18x6x10 (unless I decide that a 17 would get closer to right rpm, in discussion with zinger on that one.) Prop will be painted flat black with gloss yellow tips on final installation
Spinner: Zinger parabolic aluminum

RX 9 channel 2.4 (brand undecided at this point)
TX (See rx)
Servos: Hitech standard 6v
Fuel capacity: 16 oz
Batteries: 2200 MaH A123s @ 6.6 V x 3
Gear: ESM Air up/down 85 degree retracts (Loktite on all set screws already and permanently installed in wings, plumbed, wing is complete at this point..or as complete as its gonna be this flying season)
For the most part, fuse is plumbed for fuel and air as well..non retract tail is in place and tail surfaces are ready to hinge once engine position is lined out and ready..

Hoping mid to end of July for maiden

TM
