Re: Bill Hempel 100cc Yak-55M?????

If i go with the hacker setup it should pretty close to the same weight! I weighed everthing i took out DA50,header, can, fuel tank and lines, battery for ignition and every nit and bolt and it was 6.078lbs. My yak weighed 18lbs 4oz full of fuel ready to fly. If ican keep it in the 18lbs range it should fly just as good as it did

Re: Bill Hempel 100cc Yak-55M?????

Just thought I'd test the water on this. I'm considering selling my Hemple 50cc Yak 55 (see my avatar for pic). It would be "bind and fly" for $1300. DL-50, K&S 86 canister, JR 921 Rx, A123 batteries, Fromeco Wolverine switch, etc. Nothing wrong with it, in fact it flies awsome, just shifting priorities for the next couple years and not going to have much flying time. I will probably be posting it on the classifieds in the near future. Also, I'm in Everett, Washington and it would be local pick up only, or within a reasonable distance. PM me if interested.

Thanks,
Chad

Yeah, but I'm not totally bailing on flying. I've still got some small electric planes and a heli to play with. I just don't see me as having the time to go to the field much. With two little ones running around and a pile of other projects, something has to give a little. I WILL be back though, its just a matter of when. Enjoy the warm winter flying. Wish I could do the same.

His banner adds here on FG. Just keep hitting F5 and you will see them on the top of the page.

I just ordered a 100cc, Hempel Yak 55m, but I'd don't know what to do about my engine situation. I've got a BME 110 extreme ready to go, but after reading the threads about how tail heavy these birds are, I think I'm gonna need an engine that weighs more if I want to balance this thing. Please, I need to hear some input. Whadda you guys think?

You will not have a CG problem with the 100cc Yak. Only the 50cc Yaks come out tail heavy. I understand your engine is lighter but you can move your batteries towards the front and probabbly not have to do anything for the CG. I know of a couple people who's 100cc Yak is a bit nose heavy. My 150cc Yak is nose heavy and had to shift batteries rearward. You should be able to balance with just shifting some equipment.

When you mounted your engine, did you have to mount it off-center (to the right ) of the cross, or is the cross already in the proper position?

motor mounting method

The "X" marks the spot where to center your motor. This is how I do it.

A sad day for me. I've officially put the Yak up for sale.
