Re: 81'' Super Chipmunk engine cc?

I built one about 13 yrs ago and still have it hanging in the shop!! I originally had a YS 120 on it so I cut off the nose like they recommended (made for a short nose and needed a relatively heavy engine) when I built it. The YS never ran right so I put a Saito 150 on it! That was a perfect combo. I flew it about 10 more times that summer until I decided to go gas and went with a GP Cap 232/Brison 3.2.

Anyway, the Ohio RC Chipmunk was a great flyer for mild aerobatics.

Good luck.

Re: 81'' Super Chipmunk engine cc?

the advice of setting the g38 aside and going with a newer, chinese even 50cc is good advice. the weight is less and the power is more. the starting capabililty and the midrange will be significantly better on a newer brand 50cc'er.... give the AERA 51 by rcextremepower a look. they can be bought very reasonably and have tremendous power... this would be a better match IMHO.

you'll love the chipmunk... aerobatic and not a cookie cutter plane at the field. enjoy and happy flying!

I had a super back in the 80s great flying plane. did the best flat spins, and you could land it on a strip of tape.

I'm running a DLE 30cc on a 82" Chipmunk. Lots of fun, flies much better that I thought it would & power is great too.

Hey Gene, I got my plans from PCK. I had them inlarged to 162" ws. I believe the original size plans (81"ws) were about 60 bucks. (3 sheets)

I modified the rear fuse for a more scale look. Still a long way to go.

Just for sizing. That center wing section is 60" long and the stabs are 57" The fuse will be 127" long.

Re: 81'' Super Chipmunk engine cc?

OMG!!! Thats a big one. How many people can you fit in that. LOL
Thats a little big for me. I'm looking for about a 90 2 stroke size. The standard Goldberg I had I used a 90 4 stroke and it was plenty motor. The 90 2 stroke might fly the 81" but not how I want most likely. Do you have a formula to figure out a size to motor. This motor I have came out of a F-18 Hornet with a pusher prop and flew it quit well. I don't remember the wingspan but the length was 72" with retracks and a smoker system. Thanks for the info. I will look into getting these plans. Please keep us up to date on this monster.

Precision cut kits has the Chipmunk plans. I think they cost about $55. You can check it out at their web site.

I have one of the EG Aircraft 80" Chipmunks that I will be working on over the winter. Yeah it is an ARF but I am having trouble finding time to get kits built these days.
I wanted a nice sized Chipmunk and when I saw this one I was all over it. It will be powered by an RCGF 32cc and will have smoke on it.

I had a Goldberg Chipmunk when I first started flying and I loved to fly that plane. When Iost it (totally pilot error) I never replaced it, so when I saw the 80" from EG Aircraft. I just had to have one
