XQ-Power Servos, New!!

Ok, I've decided to test a new inexpensive servo on the market made by a company called Shenzhen XQ-Power Model Electronics CO. (XQ Power for short).

They have a good lineup of servos, standard, digital, and HV, but for now I've decided to purchase just one to test, it will be the 4020D digital servo. It has the ability to be ran up to 7.2v continuous, (fully charged A123 or 6v NiMH, or regulated 2S lipo to 7.2v). The specs are very good for the price point that they are in, These will be hard competitors with the up and coming Power HD, Spring RC, Savox, MKS servos.

Digital
Corless
Titanium gear
water proof
Aluminum middle case
18.5kg/cm (257oz/in) .15/60* @ 6v
21.8 kg/cm (303oz/in) .13/60* @ 7.2V

On paper it looks great, but when I get it I will bench test it checking current draw, resolution, torque, and the gears for grease and sound. If it last through the bench test I will then put it on the tail of my 30cc plane to see how it performs in the air for at least 20 flights... from there I will put it on my 50cc yak's tail and see how it holds up. I figure 50cc and up is the prime aircraft for this servo.

Update: Review on PG. 4 post #54

T3 keep us all informed. Glad to see more affordable servos hitting the market. It helps the guys that cant afford the big names get into bigger planes.

LOL, Hope not, they look like good servos and the pice is low. I'm guessing U.S. retail around 30-40, bucks. (if even that).

Re: XQ-Power Servos, New!!

thats the Mfg. website they just show specs... here is a retail store...

http://www.himodel.com/sort.php?brand=223&page=1

again, the servo that I am testing is new so most retail stores do not carry them as of now. But, I'm guessing they soon should. I also will be testing the 3020D... http://www.himodel.com/radios/XQ-Pow...le_S3020D.html

It's specs are good also, but it doesn't say if it has a coreless motor. Also, the servo that I'm testing has better specs so I'm assuming it would cost a little more.

check out some of the other servos also, these look great for 30cc models and at $20.00 each you can outfit your model for around 100 bucks! seems, to good to be true... but you never know (I thought the same about Power HD).

OH yeah, The price that I paid for the servo that I am testing was $33.00 shipped from China. (don't think this is the full retail price for it though) it may be higher, I just bought one to test. I don't think the price will be a ton more.

I ordered the servo a couple days ago but its coming from china through air mail... it may take a week or two to arrive.

Futaba, they are 25T spline... I may order another one and do express shipping so I can get it in my hands a little quicker.

I ordered a couple of those smoke pumps and motors also just to see how they work... I'm trying to find a motor so I can convert one to brushless...

Re: XQ-Power Servos, New!!

T3 , i bought a couple of those pumps from SDS Hobby , just tested one with a Hobbyking 20amp brushed esc , costs a big $4.95 before member discount! http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/s...idProduct=9090
Mixed thottle to throttle2 on the A9 , works a treat! Just need to solder capacitors on the motor terminals and instant smoke pump. Speed with the stock motor was best with 1 cell A123 battery , 2 cells and the speed was off the planet.
I tried doing a brushles motor on my last pump , but it wouldn't arm every time for some reason. The brushed esc works every time and the speed is very controllable.
Interested in how ya go with the XQ servos , specs sound good , you gonna go 2s lipo? Means all the other servos would have to be HV as well , but the A9 doesn't care. The Power HD 8325'S i've got as my cheap Hitec alternative are absolutely nuts on 2s , so no reason the XQ's shouldn't be the same. Thanks for taking the time to post your results dude!
Cheers , Leon.
