Will/Are JR PROPO going to shut their doors .... ?

Just received this post on my Facebook feed from our Australian wholesaler/importer (OMP) of JR equipment.

Sad to see this happen as I was always quite fond of JR equipment - My very first Tx was a JR MAX7 followed by their 388S a 10SX, a 10SXII, a PCM10X and finally the venerable JR12X.

ANNOUNCEMENT: JR PROPO to close their doors?
It is with great sadness that we must report the imminent closure of JR Propo in Japan. OMP has dealt with JR for 38 of the 40 years that the Japanese radio manufacturer has been in business.
JR lost direction after the death of its founding President Mr Yamazaki and has been hard hit recently with the sudden and massive decline in the RC Heli market and rise in Japanese business costs. There are rumours of an offer from a 3rd party to buy JR but those talks appear to have stalled. This is certainly a sad day for the RC Industry.
What does this mean for the thousands of JR customers in Australia ?
OMP has VERY good stocks of JR receivers and spare parts and a reasonable supply of JR servos so we will be able to satisfy demand for quite some time. All JR warranty claims will be honoured by OMP, and we are working with a Japanese company who appear to be willing to take over the repair of JR radios.
Life will go on much as normal, with the exception of no new JR radio sets being available.
We thank those many loyal JR customers who have supported the brand since we first started selling it in 1978. Your support helped make JR the number one radio brand in Australia for most of the 80's and all of the 90's.

Heard this from the guys at the field. It's for sale if you can come up with $7,000,000.

Not surprising, once they split up, there was no way I was going to buy all new receivers.

Wow

I saw it coming when Spektrum hit the market and then the split between HH.

I hate it for the 28x guys . HOPEFULLY someone will take up manufacturing compatable gear

Guys, we've addressed this multiple times.

We do not know why this shop in Australia has announced this.

If anything changes for the Americas, we at JR Americas will notify you directly.

Yeah I don't know about that either. I tried going to the link at OMP Facebook page where they posted this and nothing. It is not there

They are moving production so there may be some bumps in the road but they aren't going out of business from what I know.

Same sad news on RC Japan Facebook.. ''JR restructuring''..''RC division closed'' they wrote along with JR RC products not available for sale anymore. Time will tell...but I am surprised JR America does not know more about this.

This epidemic of fake news stories needs to stop.

I don't know why people keep spreading this rumor, its been all over HF and RCU too. Jumping to conclusions based on a sensational headline without reading the details.

Read the official statement. Its just a production shift and temporary R&D halt while they expand into industrial. They are not going out of business.

And I say all this as an admitted Futaba fanboy.
