Thanks for the info. I must have an early one cause it runs great & looks pretty. Hopefully it will run for a long time yet. Was thinking of grabbing another for back up/parts, but even @ $250. once I add shipping & the exchange on our crappy $ it's cheaper for me to go with a new EME35 that's supported by my dealer when this one gives me trouble. Too bad.

So my prop came loose in flight the other day... Got the plane down fine but wreaked my CF prop Figured it was my own dumb fault for not checking my bolts but my flying buddy thinks this play may have sheared a couple of the bolts.

Anyhow I managed to get the broken bolts out & re-tapped for slightly larger ones.

My question is how bad is this play? The engine runs really good, is it a bad idea to continue to run it?

I say run it till it flys apart, that is about all that you can do with a Mintor nowadays.

Looks like the wrist pin to piston fit has expired. It is posable to re-bore the wrist pin holes and use a stronger alloy to bush it with. The fit for the new bushing should be a shrink fit to insure it never moves and the new wrist pin hole must be precision as well. I would lean to 7075-T6 alloy for the bushing.

This happens to DA's as well.

In my limited experience with gassers a little bit of play like that is normal. My EME35 had that from new, have probably 4 or 5 gallons through it now and never an issue, nor has the play become any worse.

It is normal for the Mintor. The real problem starts when it's starts getting worse and the fan stops turning mid flight

Thanks for the input guys, I'll just fly it, but I'll make sure I fly in a way that a dead stick will always be easy, then I'll order a EME 35

MINTOR 60cc upper conrod retaining circlip

Sorry for the location of this post, but there was no thread for 60cc. For what it's worth My mintor 60 ran strong after about 30 minutes of breakin. After about 50 minutes total, it flamed out. I found that the little wire circlip that holds the piston conrod in place had came loose and the engine "digested" it, with the only damage being a scratch or two on the ring and a groove or two in the same area on the piston skirt above and below that same location. The bits of the retaining wire clip were melted into the aluminum piston top and inside the top of the head. Most came right out/off with just a little effort.

I cleaned up the piston groove, and gave the ring a nice "hone" on the upper/lower flats by using a circular motion on some 400 wet sandpaper placed on a glass plate. It removed the tiny visible, but not measureable deviations... A little oil and the ring now is allowed to once again EXPAND in the groove as intended. I lost the circular wire retainer that was consumed, but got to measure and take dimensions on the remaining one (before I lost it!!). For those who need this info, it's a BETTER spring steel Housing Ring with tool holes for compression, and is the exact size needed!! It is part number HO-31 available from rotorclip.com Good Luck!! I also found a replacement piston (in case I need it!) complete with ring and new clips (which I will swap out immediately!) at AEROGRAPHICS.COM Seems they bought out Top Dawgs spare parts inventory and still have a few pieces left!! They don't advertise, but if you look hard enough (like I did!) you can figure it out! Hope to get it back together... it really ran well, considering it was a 99 dollar purchase!

$1.98 a minute. Glow would be cheaper.
