Well its must perfectly horizontal to the leading edge wing line and plumb in the vert. Plane as well.
Make it square except for the thrust angle.

Well weather was decent and got off work on time. Got three flights in.
Had to do a little throttle trim adjustments after the mount change and richen it just a little.
During the 3rd flight it felt really comfortable. Need to keep throttle up just a little to maintain energy during hard tumbles. Which is a good thing thing, sometimes it's good to just have it stop when you want it. A few inverted flat spins, a couple of knife edge spins. Just getting used to the plane. Then I couldn't stand it any longer.... I had to try some hovering....backs down nicely, didn't get squirly. And surprisingly the pull out is still awsome. I had this 120 in a 27ish lb. plane and pull out was rocketing. Its still impressive OH and nothing broke

That is totally awesome , I just hope my DA 100 pulls half as good. Looks really good IBTRIN, I wish I was that good at 3D, I'm still learning.
I hope to get my engine fired up tomorrow........we'll see, the weather has been kind of nasty lately...really windy.

Looks good and sounds like it flys great.

I ran the engine today and it sounds great....no adjustments needed ( don't you love DA motors ). So I'm working on finishing up the cowling and misl. other items. Now I need to get some smoke oil to test that system and then I think we're ready to go fly this bad boy.

I also weighed the plane with no gas in it and it looks like 31 lbs 3 oz. So it's a little heavier than IBTRIN's but I would expect that with the DA 100L.

The maiden flight will have to be next week or so, weather permitting, due to Easter festivities this weekend.

Well yesterday didn't go as planned. Maiden was awesome, second flight even better, but the third...

Tim, I've got some wing bags just for you if you're interested.

Before I start blaming anyone else other than myself for pulling the stuff I did on the third flight, I really think the tail broke after a few high rate maneuvers ie snap rolls and figuring roll rates. Honestly I had it up too high and far out to really tell exactly what happened but I couldn't get oriented and she spun straight in nose first. Every input seemed to make the situation worse. Dumb thumbs, idk but I had about a dozen flights at the field soo far, lock out, no as it responded to inputs just not anywhere like it was supposed to, the "red plane" issue, idk as I've never had the color issue before. ...I'm stumped, in awe and kinda numb right now. I don't have much left to recover.

SORRY! about the loss Jason, believe me, i know how you must feel! I mistakenly shut off the cut off switch instead of the smoke switch and totaled my first Comp-Arf Extra 260 2.6m 2 years ago never made it back to land dead stick. But, now i am back with my second Comp-Arf Extra 260 HANG IN THERE MAN!!!

This is the crazy thing about this hobby, all the time, money and knowledge to assemble, maintain and fly is a lot, that can vanish in the blink of an eye.

Sorry to hear about the loss. Can't think of a more beautiful place for it to happen though, that is the sweetest looking airfield on the North American continent!

To lose it on the first day really sucks. I lost my first 100cc Edge on it's maiden flight three years ago. It really knocked me down more than I wanted to admitt. Got a replacement plane and I am still wringing it out. Don't make a guy feel any better at the time though.

Hate to see that... and sorry for your loss. There have been a number of planes (various manufacturers) that have twisted teh tail off in snap maneuvers lately.... I don't know if it's the combined result of overpowered airframes and big control surfaces, or just flukes of the manufacturing processes... but it sure seems to be happening more now than in previous years.

What is that "red plane" issue you mentioned?
