LiFe Transmitter Pack for JR

For a JR 9503

Besides the Zippy Flightmax 9.9v batteries from Junk King

Are there any other A123/LiFe packs out there with the JE connector and balance node you guys are using?

I had one saved in my fav's so I thought and cant seem to locate it again. I have seen the Hyperion but don't like the connector...they make an adapter, but was hoping for one not so cumbersome.

No issues, you're not much higher than a well charged 8 cell. Pro's, charge it and it stays charged, nearly 0 self discharge, longer run times, no puffing lipo inside your transmitter.

Cons, you don't have one yet

Can you trust the voltage display on the transmitter when using this battery?

Why would you not be able to trust the display, the low voltage alarm i understand but why the display?

Low Voltage Alarm is adjustable on the 11x as well, though I forget what the range is.

I dont have any experience with life but if i am not mistaken you could only know how much capacity is on the batteries by calculating how many mah were used during a flight and not by the viltage, that is what I am asking, can you Really tell the condition of the battery from the voltage on the display?

You are correct that with LiFe batteries it is almost impossible to judge charge state by voltage reading. However, it is much simpler with a transmitter than a plane to calculate the draw based on time and then simply use the transmitter timer to keep up with how long the battery has been under load.
For example--
Charge the battery to full charge.
Discharge for 1 hour.
Charge again to full and note the amount of input mAhs.
Repeat several times, then average the 1 hour draw.
If average draw turned out to be say 500 mAh. ; then you would know that this 2100mAh battery would last at min. 3hrs worth of transmitter "on" time, with a 25% margin of error.

Reset the timer each time you charge.

OK--need to give credit where credit is deserved. I placed my order @2:35pm from RediHeli(post #10). Received an email at 3:06pm that USPS has received the shipping invoice. Time will tell if it they actually manage to process and ship in the same hour but lets see!

They are good guys, I deal with them all the time and fly with them at events several times a year.

You CAN tell the general capacity of a life and Electro Dynamics makes an A123 checker. Now grantid it uses volts as a means by which to determine remaining capacity and that can't always be trusted depending on the type battery. At 3.3 volts per cell you have approximately 20% capacity left and the battery should be charged because the drop on a nanophosphate is steep at the batterys end.
