Re: Giants From South Africa
Ok so I got the surprise of my life this afternoon
When we ran my 65 the other day at ZF I tried a 26 x 8 menze on it just to see how it would do and well it was flyable but did seem to lagg just a bit. Anyway later that day we found that I had acidently forgotten to take out the overflow plug and the tank was like a vacume cleaner inside... so after we took this out and I was now using the run inn prop on the motor I started to wonder what it might have performed like with the 26 x 8 if the tank hadn't any vacume. So this after noon I took off the other prop bolted on the 26 x 8 and flipped her over let her warm up a bit revved her up and OMG it peaked perfectly Holly &^&*. I was so surprised that my 65 could swing this 26 x 8 but Im sure that this is becuase of the can muffler. My buddies ZDZ80 couldn't even swing the same prop well and he had to go down to a 24 x 10. Anyways I'm still gonna fly with a 24 x 8 menze cause I think this will be the right prop for 3D ( I need good reponse from the motor ) Trev |

Nope I don't but don't even consider CAN's Iv already gone down that road with Aubry but those MVVS can are just to big you need 160mm sq gap to fit them side to side and that Wild Hare's gap in the former just isn't big enough. But Aubry reconse he's gonna make it work ( but at what cost ). Don't JK olso do those engines but under the EVO brand ( strange but I think it's true ) Maybe Peter can also help. But Im sure that in 2 weeks something will come up, I will scout around. Yip I think your right the Bisson one will work. Trev |

Re: Giants From South Africa
When we flew the Extra we used a 26 x 10 prop, very nice, just that it sounded like the motor wasnt peaking......Damn thing was too rich. About 12 minutes into the flight rael was doing rolling circles ,,,,,all of a sudden the motor just burst into life,,, off course running out of fuel,,, leaning out.... you learn every day. found that with the ZDZ setting them up seems to be a lot different to what i'm used to . Also they always seem to need tweeking. The Tillitson carbs on the 3w motors seem to do a real nice job. Wonder if these can be replaced.

Re: Giants From South Africa
Trev,
Thanks. Tried to explaint to Aubrey that bcans are not going to work. this is the second Wildhare kit we have owned. The first one had a 3w150 with can. What a mission, nothing but problems. Cooling was a huge issue. venting the air away from the electronics wasa nightmare. Eventually we replaced the cans with normal mufflers, problems solved. Anyway we will see. Those 3w can are the same size as the MVVS cans. Gary |
