It's what I had. At least there will be no doubt about the roll authority on this one! I will also be installing an 8611 on the rudder, and will have 8411s on the elevators.

Work progresses a little quicker when you aren't stopping to take pictures every step. Here's the completed second wing. These wings just need the hinge gaps sealed and they'll be ready for radio setup and flight!

I'd switch aileron and elevator servos since we know you'll be full deflection elevator 3-Ding all the time. But whatever!

When do I get to fly it?

In my opinion, the ailerons need more servo power than the elevators. The reason is twofold: First of all, the ailerons have a much larger surface area than the elevators, and they have no aerodynamic counterbalance. Secondly, it is possible to fly at speed for a period of time with the ailerons deflected at full throw. Fast rolls at flying speed come to mind. That's a lot of resistance against these surfaces to try and stay fully deflected in flight. It is not possible to fly at speed with the elevators at full throw - as soon as you go to full throw on the elevators the plane come to a screeching halt (wall, parachute), and then they only have the prop wash to fight against. I have had good success with the 8411s on my 50cc Edge elevators and they should work great on this plane as well. Due to the large frontal area of the Sukhoi, it doesn't top out at as high of a speed as the Edge and other cleaner designs. If I was rich though I'd be installing Futaba 9156s throughout on this bird. Sadly, my servo budget was blown purchasing 13 of them for the 43% Edge.

You can fly it whenever you see me at the field, of course!

Lookin' forward to seeing it all together. I may not ever make it back to larger planes.

I only suggest the elevator as the shock to the surface is greater in wall than doing axial rolls (if you trim it correctly that is). Less pressure on the surface to roll than to stop the plane.

But this is just jibberish talk as either servo is fine on any surface.

Okay, finally got off my butt and took some pictures of mine. It is sitting on the gear and hopefully you can get an idea of the shape of the gear. I think it is perfect! Also, check out the side windows and the beautiful, sweeping fillets at the trailing edge of the wing!!

I will be ordering 5 new 9156's tomorrow! Yes, they are overkill, but someday I hope to steal them to put in a big PAU Ultimate!!!

Start saving now Sam, as I know you have an Ultimate ready for assembly!!

This plane has got me wanting to head to the field NOW!!! (if it weren't for the fricken' weather here in the NW!!)

One note to help easily install the two-piece aluminum gear:

find a telescoping magnet to help feed the socket-head screws, washers and lockwashers through the four holes (per side) in the fuse and get them started through the gear and into the blind nuts one or two threads, then remove the magnet and tighten with your ball driver. I scratched my head for a bit before finally doing it this way and it was a snap!!
