I've been spending time on my RF G3 sim lately. I really wish to learn to torque roll. I have been using the Yak 54 with 3d setting, most similar to my actual plane. I reduced physics time to 80%, and it took me a couple of days, but I got better. I upped it to 90%, and am now medeocre. At full speed I'm terrible. The tail swings wildly, and I am always essentially out of control. I have varied my ele and rudder expo from 65-80% trying to settle this down. What I want to know is, what do competent 3d pilots tend to use for expo on the rudder and elevator? I know there is no one right answer for everyone, but there are trends. I wonder what is the most likely setting. Please chime in with what you do.

It depends on the airplane and radio. On milder stuff, 75%. On crazier stuff, as high as 90. I also run super short sticks which means I like more expo.

I never liked the Yak in RFG3. The controls go very numb in a hover/TR. My favorite was the Cap with a few tweaks, but it's really quick. Try using the Cap with the sim speed at 75% and see how you like it.

On the same subject of torque rolling. This is what I find I'm doing. Keep in mknd, this isn't a concious choice, but what seems to be happening. When the planes top or bottom faces me, I make corrections with rudder, and when it's in profile, I correct with elevator. But, I can't seem to make corrections vice-versa, and I tend to wait for it to turn enough so I can see what correction is needed. I don't know if this is just because I am using a sim, and I will be able to see better in real life. Do you guys make rudder corrections when in profile? I can see pitch error in any postion, but when the top or bottom in facing me, I usually dont see the error till late, and the correction is too big.

I also notice the plane creeps toward me. Even in zero wind, after about 5 rotations, the plane which started over the grass is right where I am. I dont know. Just keep practicing.

I think the most accurate G5 sim model is the Patty Wagstaff Extra that "the KM" posted on the swap pages. It "feels" very much like my 104 AJS.

A friend of mine has one and it flies awesome. It's a great little bipe. I had a PA Addiction and it was fun, but the elevator servo failed and it went in. The servos they sell with it are relabeled BlueBird servos and they kind of suck...go for some Hitec 65MG's and you will be much happier.

It's EPP as well, so you can crash it pretty hard and not break anything. Flies like depron though!
