I had a wing snap at the end of the wing tube about a month ago. Here is the result of my one wing landing. Probably should have practiced on the Sim.

Regarding the warranty from 3DHS, will they cover all the damages or just the wing itself?

In all three cases I put it into a spin and at the last minute I pulled full up elevator. All three planes ended up repairable. The first one got warranty replaced (god bless 3DHS) but was repairable. The main damage was to the landing gear. The second one ended up in the tall grass/brush and other than never finding the wing that broke off it was flying as soon as the new one showed up. The third one was only minorly damaged with sheeting work being the hardest thing to fix. The landing gear did need some repair work as well.

Since they developed into spins I just use elevator and aileron to try to bring them down on the field and with the least amount of sink rate. The two that ended badly were only a 100 or so feet high so there was not a lot of time to figure anything out and like others have said trying something more radical could have ended with the plane towards all the people. Yes, up high you can try to bring it into knife edge and I have been practicing this more and more as the season progressed but even then the best you can do it to knife into trees or tall grass because the aircraft will more damaged landing on it's side. You'll never be able to hover land it as the model is just too unbalanced and realize you will probably knife it with the wing down.

I wish I did not have so much experience with this maneuver but there it is.

Here are the damage to my 30cc, not too bad compare to the 200cc race car.

a new cowl, motor box, landing gear, wheel pants, prop, left wing and also fix the crack on the fuselage then it will be like a new born... wait... sounds like I better off buying a new airframe then ?!!!

Ouch!

Love those White Rose Engineering wheels, by the way.
Classy bling, even at the scene of the crash

It's a defected brand new left wing broke off from it's first flight. Already contact Rob at ADC and waiting for response from manufacture.

Merry Christmas everyone!

Pulling 50+ G's doing a wall might have something to do with some wing failures...

There comes a point where you can't make the wing strong enough and still light enough to fly.

I do plenty of high speed walls(among other things) and have never had a problem with my 3dhs planes. Do some come with flaws from the factory? of course...that cannot be avoided. Lets not try to make this into something its not. The fact that a plane is built light does not necessarily mean it is not strong.

I have had 3 planes fail in flight and all three were from the same company...that company is known for having planes that are a little heavier than most.

well, sorry but I disagree..

it was a brand new out-of-the-box wing that only has 3 minutes into the flight and the whole wing got pull out of the fuselage with a pop-top. My original beat-up wing can still handle all kinda of abuse because it was built solid by 3DHS!! I replace it for cosmetic and safety concern.

post-crash analysis shows the glue is absolutely minimum. I think/hope 3DHS is working on this issue right now.

Daniel, could you tell us your aieron input during the one wing flight? is it very sensitive? do you need to compensate the torque from the motor?

Thanks.
