After reading most of this thread i am amazed at the disrespect aimed at older members of some flying fields. I belong to a large RC club and from what i have observed at our club the good 3D pilots are able to work with the circle guys and get along fine. It seems the guys who talk 3D better than they actually can fly are a problem. Myself, i like all styles of flying. Is there a prize if someones skill is better than the other guys, i think not.

Hovering is a maneuver just like loops are. It takes practice. If I am practicing slow rolls all day long I doubt anyone will complain. Unless everyone is flying circles in the same direction at the same speed there is potential for conflict. There is room for all types of flying, just be respectful. If I am going to spend a tank working on hovering maneuvers, I will allow others to fly afterwards and stay out of their way for a while. My hovering interferes with their blazing high speed passes and their high speed passes interfere with my hovering. Respect
