I think the Evo is worth it not only for the rpm. But also throttle response. You are getting the performance of a pipe for about half the cost or less.

I got in town this afternoon and was truly surprised! Wow
Thank You for all your help at Joe Nall, this engine will get bolted up next week end and run on the mufflers the first 5 or 6 gal, again thank you for taking the time to work with me at JN.
I'll get some video.........just might have to be in August...........July will be 7-12s!

Balsadust, I believe the evo is a stronger runner than the plane 88. Now in saying this, the plane 88 has more power than the da85. I have all 3 and have run the same props on all 3. I think running the standard muffler would actually let the engine be a tad more powerful than a can. I use cans because I fly imac and seek to make my planes as quiet as I can. One of my favorite parts of the 88 or evo 88 is how smooth they are, and how small the vibration profile is with this engine. Don't tell my wife but I'll probably be ordering another evo88 for my next yak55sp scratch build (version5). Toby
