I'd love to get video of us 3 today..........

However, with that said.... .... in budgeting for flight trips,
I don't think we are going to make it down for the cookout today....

Good news is that we added the Ashland fly-in to our schedule for
next weekend.......

Thanks Ken. I just tried to estimate power to weight and seems to be approaching 2.75 to 2.8 to 1 but still keeps wing loading at 19.3. Gonna play with that for a while!!

On my last flight last Saturday evening, I had to land a little premature....
about a minute early.... my GP-61 decided to get a case of the "rattles".....
yep, muffler came loose for the 4th time...... sigh........

So today I broke into the front of the Redwing Extra 330, and took care of the
muffler situation...... I decided to trash the shiny bolts that came with the GP engine
for the exhaust.... they're either just chromed or maybe even stainless steel, but anyways,
for the 4th time, I've had them back out and come loose with no trace of any threadlocker
on them at all...... I replaced with some decent m5 grade 8 bolts, and used my trusty
old permatex sleeve retainer.... we should be good to go now.....

to clean out my thread holes, I use a Q-tip dipped into a little regular
gasoline... just thread it into the hole and then screw it back out......
it cleans the garbage out of the thread holes pretty good....

I also pictured the "sleeve retainer" that I have been using on all of my mufflers
for quite a while now.....

Hi! It is the same GP-61 you saw me with at Chattanooga! The Xoar 23 3DB spools up real nice and hits 7700 but you can do an entire flight and not really need more than 1/2 throttle unless showing off. The one thing I noticed about this combo is that after 12 minutes I still have nearly a half tank on 16.9 oz. It fits my flying style and other props work good but I am hung on this combo right now. Looking forward to seeing you at Chattanooga again this year. We might even have Kenny and his airplane owner/camera person come down too!

Didn't I say his lovely bride? Don't want to forget.

Here's a little more that I had to do to the redwing extra 330....

When I went to tighten up the muffler on the GP-61, I noticed
a little give on the cowl mounting tab area, and front of the fuse....

Oh boy..........

Whole front had glue joints releasing/failing on the secondary firewall.....
it had broken free of the bottom stringers and internal vertical wood rails.......
and one of the bottom mounting tabs had tore some new wood, and was
about 1/2 way off........

So.....

Yesterday's adventure with the airframe:

Glue, glue, glue, tape & clamp.....

I guess this isn't too bad so far for 57 flights on the airframe...
I can live with it....... little maintenance goes a long way......
