Hey Dave,

How can I order a set to these and what do I need to complete the setup?

Dave has anyone tried them on a 3W 170CS yet? I have one arriving this week. If I get time I'll bolt up the ProFlows when I run it up.

Hey guys ... I was lurking around on this thread looking to learn more on the subject. One thing I don't get is why you measure the length of the headers. Are the canisters tuned in any way? is there a resonance chamber in there?

Dave, maybe you could help me understand this?

Thanks in advance
Guy

Header Length will control the Powerband alot. I have run the DA-170 for instance with every Length from 8" to 14" and found that When using my Pro Flow 3D Canisters the smoothest overall preformance (Not highest RPM reading) was obtained with a 10.5" Header. The shorter header produced a little higher RPM but became very peaky and poor transision. On the other hand when I tested a much longer Header length it was smooth on the bottom but seemed to have very little until almost full throttle setting.
I realize not all engines are all the same and I am just reporting on my own findings.

Finally got around to run up my BME 110 on Pro flows! My marriage got in the way of play time!
Not for long though. Didn't tighten the prop nut enough, so the prop slipped, and the two small prop locating screws on the engine hub destroyed the prop..

Man are those Pro flows smooth. I started out very rich on both needles and even though the low end was so rich it drooled gas out of the carb it was running smooth. Seems like the cans make the engine very forgiving when it comes to needle settings, which is a good thing. Very good.

But I think I might be too long at 11" and a smidge. It behaved alot like you said in your previous post. It suddenly gaines alot of rpm from 3/4 throttle and up. (Some of it might be my throttle geometry, though.)

In what increments do you recommend cutting the headers, Dave?

Thanks!
Lars.

Radialars,

You can try cutting down a 1/4" at a time until you achieve the transition that you want. You can even cut them down at an 1/8" at a time if you don't feel comfortable at a 1/4". I use small increments like this only because you are already close to the 10.5" mark, 1/4" makes a difference on throttle transition. I hope this helps.

Thanks,
Matthew

Did some needle twisting with the headers unchanged spinning a xoar 27x10.
After closing the low needle about 20min. it is starting to perform very well.

A small video testing the transition: The aileron servos isn't hooked up so the pockethinges on the ailerons is a bit noisy..
Pro flow canisters on BME 110 Extreme (0 min 25 sec)

That thing is smooth as glass!! I think you will appreciate that when you are flying. Wow, very, very nice. Like an electric motor.

DA 120 Canisters & Prop

Hi Dave, as I have told you, you are an artist/engineer. I have read all 69+ pages of this thread and I know you have tested the DA120 with your cans. Can you tell this rookie what prop combination you felt supported your cans performance. IMAC Flying only. I'm still trying to understand your explanation on using a screw to keep the cans from moving about. Chic White
