Pilot55cc sbach cg help

The suggested cg on my pilot 55cc sbach is right behind the wing tube.the plane flys tail heavy . I understand .....add nose weight till it flys right. Does anyone have this plane that can share their experiences with cg?
Thanx......keener

Back of the wing tube here and its pretty neutral.

What makes you think its flying tail heavy? Have you done an 45 degree upline and rolled inverted and let go to see what it does?

Also, when you slow it down to land, the nose is pitched upward where it would land on tail wheel first before the mains. Also it is elevator touchy.

Before you go messing with the CG, slap an incidence meter on things and see if there's a difference between the wings and the stabs, and between the stabs

I have owned two of the 50cc sbachs and both needed to be balanced on the front edge of the wing tube. The first one was the best flying plane I have owned and the cg had to be on the forward side of the tube for the plane to fly well. I lost that plane due to a midair at an airshow overseas. The second plane likes to be balanced about 1/2" forward of the tube for the best flight characteristics. I prefer to fly a neutrally balanced plane for my style of flying. Everyone likes a different feel to the plane but the plane will feel quite tail heavy and very responsive or twitchy to the controls if balanced at the cg marked on the airframe.

Hope that helps.

BTW don't add lead, move the batteries forward to just behind the firewall. That should do it for you. Keep the plane as light as you can or it will fly like a pig.

Its a biotch to balance unless you do the 45. I have had a DLE 55 with a can, no can and now electric 12s every maiden has been interesting at least I expect it now LOL. Awesome plane though when she is set up. 3 years and still going strong.

I put another a123 on the firewall for a total of 2, one on each side. If it ever quits raining here I will try it again. By the way, I am using a dle55 ra. If it needs more nose weight, I have nothing else to move. Lead may be my only option.

By the way......thanks for everyone's help. I wonder why pilot says behind the wing tube is the starting point?

I have a 30cc Sbach, different brand ,but same tail heavy characteristics. I moved my batteries way out and even made a wood extension attached to the motor box, so the A123 is next to the engine.

I moved my engine forward 1/4 " and I even moved my rudder servo further forward about 6 inches. All these mods have pretty much given me a fairly neutral cg.

Just some ideas, if it remains a problem.

With 2 a123 batts on the firewall, it moves the balance point to the middle of the Wing tube Like I said, if it quits raining,I will give t a try.

I do have pilot rc sbach 50 cc with dle 55. I had same problem with CG. I moved all the batteries to the front and plane needs
300 gr of lead . Then I checked all incidences. At least gave 1 degree upthrust to motor. She flied beatufly without any leads.
Now for about 300 flights on . Have a try.
