I seem to recall reading somewhere, but could not find in this thread, that EME was developing an electronic switching module for this and upgrades for better compatibility with the 60. Is this still in the works?

I have just finished installing a eme starter on a dle 55 on a top flite 1/5 p-51 and it is completely inside the cowl, So as far as the inline cowls go its doable . I put the motor on top with the engine inverted.

I ordered one at the same time Karl did. Mine went into a TF GS P-47. A couple of hours to install and it works great. I think I need another...

I really don't think a "controller" is really required. Karl and I used automotive relays triggered by RCEXL Opto-kill switches. Works perfectly.

I'm curious RCGUY59. The photo seems to indicate an upgraded version of the originally released sterter that I have. The motor appears to have the EME symbol and the sprag gear/bearing is black rather than silver in appearance. The most obvious indicator to me is the apparent absence of the crankcase clamp. Did you remove the clamp or is that the way they are sold now?

I removed the clamp. It seemed to me that it wasn't needed, and it has yet to prove me wrong. Left intact, it can't be removed without pulling the hub and gear, and it blocks access to the ignition sensor bracket screws. I got it last week from SDSHobby, so it may well be the latest version, though I don't know for sure.

I see on milehighrc.com that they are now advertising "Now with updated gears and motor." I recall Mike mentioning that updated motor, but does anyone know what the update gears are?

The upgrades.. The motor was upgraded to a harder shaft. I am told EME had a few shafts snap so they went to the new motor with the better shaft. The gears are harder steel, I have read that some of the sprag gears have lost a tooth, usually associated with a kick back. The new gears are harder and so far holding up much better.

The new controller is pretty cool. It is plug and play, and has a fail safe that it shuts it self off after around 1.5 or 2 seconds. In the event the switch is left on or the starter is left engaged it wont burn anything up. EME is currently developing the case for it. They were due the 1st of April so I suspect they will be available any day now and we will have them as soon as they are ready.

Thanks for the update Mike. I'll be getting one of those controllers from you when they become available.

If the gears are dark in color (almost black) they are the new gears.

The controllers will be about $25.00 - $30.00 and should be here in the states in about a week and a half or 2 weeks. The starter would be pretty dang slick in the FW190. If you fly at LAMA or Love air I would love to come up and get some video when it's done, that is if they ever turn off this snow.
