The unit described actually has more functions than the proposed Aura. It has a mode where it will level the wings and fly the aircraft for you. You cuold have the fail safe turn it on if you lose control. It could save your A/C. Even the high cost cortex does not have that

I think you're missing the point...I personally have no interest in "functions" like wing levelling and panic switches. I'm not interested in a stabilizer that can fly the plane for me. I want a stabilizer that is virtually transparent to me flying...all it should do is smooth out the bumps from turbulent air. That's where the Cortex, iGyro and presumably the Aura shine...they don't interfere with aerobatics or 3D flying. In short, number of functions means nothing to me, I want a stabilizer that's as transparent as possible.

There is no function in these gyros that will "fly the aircraft for you". All they do is level the aircraft (beginners mode) and smooth out turbulence.

I guess I don't know what you want it for.
I have an eagletree that will perform all such functions. I just never use the function you are getting with those units.
I would just like to have one that will keep things level during a crosswind landing with a gas engine at low RPM. The eagletree wont do that. I was hoping the Aura would do that but they dont seem to want to let go of it

Although they may have missed their target release date on the Aura, I can tell you that I have never experienced a higher level of customer support that I have with their Extra. I also am looking for the right gyro for a gas engine plane as you describe above. It's hard to be patient!

My concern is how patient I need to be before I risk a heavily delayed product in my expensive airplane? I so want this to work well!

Here we are on 10/15, and no updates from Falcon or Flex. No one likes bad news, but please share when/if this product will be available.
