How To Build a Composite Warbird Mould Video Series

Hello Everyone!

I've am currently building a 16 piece fuselage mould from epoxy fibreglass of my 1/7th scale P-40E Warhawk. I have been posting a series of video logs with time lapse etc, that will hopefully show that anyone with a little patience can build a mould at home while working during the day and sleeping at night!
You can see these videos on my youtube channel here
http://www.youtube.com/user/b1heqh54

Please feel free to have a look and then leave a comment or question.
This month I made #16 from the top most subscribed in Canada, please take two seconds to press the subscribe button and help me to share this great hobby of ours with the rest of the world!

P.S. - I know that the subject model does not make the 84" giant minimum, but I felt that the techniques could be applied to any build - thanks for the support everyone!

Thanks for the kind words RTK! Can you tell me if the moderators are likely to pull this down because I don't make the wingspan minimum?

Hey that's some machine you've got there - maybe someday for me, but not yet unfortunately

Just a quick video update today.

Well, I can see the number of views increasing still, so I'll just keep on posting! lol
I promised drama - if you like to see someone else frustrated with themselves, then this video is for you. The build is moving along, despite my best efforts to hold myself back
This is the fifth episode in the series that I'm putting together at the request of a few others who thought that they would like to see a little more detail in the mould construction, and you can see it here http://www.youtube.com/user/b1heqh54
Feel free as always to leave a comment or question - or tell me I'm crazy if you like - you won't be the first, and probably not the last - cheers everyone - enjoy

They won't delete it. This is too informative for people that like to build. I wish I had the time to build, hopefully in the future. Keep up the good work.

If there was a wingspan minimum, a lot of people would have been banned long ago.

This is great info! Don't worry about the wingpsan, Flying Giants is more a way of life than a wingspan measurement!

HEY NICE THREAD!

Just to clarify... we have no wingspan minimum. And really no rules as to what you can post RC wise.
(within common sense reason.. PG-13, etc)

Were into small foamies to 180" GIANTS to Jets to ????!!!

Please continue with the thread!

Were looking forward to it!

Re: How To Build a Composite Warbird Mould Video Series

Wow - thanks for the replies everyone (glad to hear it's not so much the size that matters around here lol)
I'm just getting back, because I had a major reformat issue on the ol' slaptop. I'll be sure and check out your threads.

Since the last video, I've completed a couple of more sections to the mould and am moving along. I've had more than a few questions about why I chose to make the mould in so many sections. So I decided that since I'd recently completed four sections that make up the rear of the mould, I would take a few minutes to put together a quick video. I hope this helps to answer the questions, but it wasn't easy to do with the limited studio budget - lol
You can see the latest video here http://ca.youtube.com/b1heqh54
I can see that finished squadron of fuselages already!

Paris Hilton Stops By to Lend a Hand

OK - so I wasn't happy with the last video that I threw together
Too much, too little, and I just wasn't happy.
Anyway, Paris Hilton owed me a favour - so check out the latest vid here

I'm also putting together a little vid on the cheap vacuum system, I just put together for this project - here's a pic, let me know what you think
PS. - I purged those tanks very carefully first with air, then with water - I am not promoting this sort of thing - take them to your Fire Department and ask for their help

There will be another video shortly, but I wanted to keep the thread updated.
I've completed all of the mould sections, and will now move on to some access holes to allow for construction.
