OMP 112" YAK-55m 120cc!

I just talked with John from OMP and looks like they are going to be getting a 112" YAK! designed for the DA-120

They hope to have it ready for Joe Nall and if everything goes smoothly production models will be available in Fall of this year.

Specs so far:

Width: 112"
Lenght: 112"
Weight: 28lbs
Includes Carbon Fiber Spinner, LG, Wing Tube, Stab Tube and Stringers/Spars in the fuse and wing.
Price will be about $1100.00
Color Scheme will be similar to the current 102 yak but slightly modified.

Cant wait for this bird, have known about it for a long time and been excited ever since John told me...My DA-120 is going to have a new home! The Yak 55 we currently sell was not made for the 120, but heck it is a fun bird with the 120!!!!

If you manage to produce an airframe 112 by 112 @ 28lbs (true weight) you will be way ahead of the competition. I happen to believe it's the way the hobby is going. (Not to big not to small) That size airplane powered by a 120 will be the cats a$$. I love the way my DA-120 runs (in my beast) and would buy another in a heartbeat. So with that said BRING IT ON ! $ is waiting.

I will be building two prototypes, one with a 3w 106 comp. on re2's . The other will be built for David Moser, it will be power by a DA 120 on stock mufflers. David M. and i have worked hard on making this yak the best size for todays deman. Power that is being put out by the new 120 can be tons of fun, but one thing that we have noticed is with the light weight of our 102" - 107" planes this power turns into uncontrollable power. So the idea it to give the customer more plane for there money and a better fit for there power plant.

And yes she is one BEAUTIFIUL airplane!!!!!!

It is gorgeous! I love the open louver's too. I have done that before and it sucks opening them up. Is that how the cowels are coming?

tcruiser16, Yes the cowling will have the louver's already open and the cowl baffle will come installed with cut outs already done for you. This should help speed up the time from box to flying, one less thing you have to worry with and trying to make it look good.

Looks pretty. The surfaces look quite a bit smaller and the fuse looks a bit skinnier than my hempel 100cc 55m. A little more scale looking I guess. I am sure it will fly great.
