Pima Air Museum, Tucson

Spent the day at the Pima Air Museum in Tucson. Outstanding! Only 107degrees, but remember,it is a "dry heat".

Linkie here, http://www.pimaair.org/

Also opted for the AMARG Boneyard tour at Davis-Monthan AFB.

Was out there a few months ago, they definately had a ton of unique aircraft. Well worth the price of admission.

There's a lot of history out there in the sand.

Notice the "re-kitted" B-52's in the picture? Part of the arms reduction agreements. They have a giant guillotine that dropped from a crane to dice them up, then the "other guys"could take pictures with their satellites to verify.
DA is in the upper right. We've been known to re-kit a few planes also.....

I was stationed at DM between 1993-2000 and saw the 'cut' first hand and took a few pics. These are 'action shot' as it happened. It was a sight to see, but on the other hand, it kinda sucked because I worked on some of these planes.

Flew to Vegas for a couple of days ( + $600! ). Parents were traveling with our son, we drove to Tucson to meet them. Also a full scale BullDog buddy there, Matt McCurdey. Matt took us to a great eatery there. The next AM Matt took my son and I for a local tour by air in his Bulldog. Afterwords we visited Russo and got "the DA tour" then to the Electric Jet Factory. Neat stuff. Really wanted to make it by your shop but didn't have time. Next time, I hope!
Thanks again Matt, great host.

Matts' Bulldog,

Pima's an awesome museum. I have sim training in Tucson in June, and hopefully I'll have the chance to swing by the museum.

The museum has real sentimental value to me. I actually have flight time (as a navigator) on the B-52D displayed by the roundabout at the entrance.
I thorouly enjoy touring Pima Air, as they have all the aircraft I piloted while in the Air Force (T-41, T-37, T-38, C-141, T and AT-33, OV-10 and a dash of F-100 time)
