I have worked on 3 so far, broken cases from crashes...If you're concerned about quality, the main bearings are made by FAG, a premier bearing manufacturer...The cantilever crank is short and strong, the carb is a Walbro, ignition is RC EXL...At $379 there's no better value anywhere...The ones here turned a Xoar 23-8 at 6700 using the stock muffler. Minimal vibration, no worse than most and better than some....
Only thing that might be better would be a tapered end on the crank, it's straight with a very large key...Tapered ends don't rely on the key....In all, a very good engine...
I replaced the cases, parts cost was $75 shipped with all the gaskets....

It looks like a cross between a DA and a 3MM 53.

Just got the engine in today!!!

I am v impressed with my DL50. Have about a gallon through it now, running a 22x8 on a KS cannister and getting about 7300rpm. All my mates are impressed at how easy it starts and the great transition. Definitely worth a try.

Anybody else have any results on this engine?

I've got nothing but good things to say about mine. It hauls a 19lb Extra 330L around the sky like it's a feather. Very powerful for a 50cc plus it also has a great idle, wonderful transition, smooth midrange and starts with just a flick or two.

From what I can gather, it's certainly better than a DA50 in terms of performance and handling -- and even better, you can buy two of these for the price of one DA. Support and service (in the USA) also seem to be first-rate if you buy from the primary dealer.

It looks as if DA have a bit of catching up to do on this one.

Hi Guys, I just ordered a DL 50 for a Great Planes Ultimate and was wondering if anybody knows what kind of spinner will fit this motor. Is it the same as the DA? Thanks

The ultimate comes with a spinner, you just need to drill it to fit the prop hub.

ask, new mount system (stick alum) and new crank case mount (“ears” have been increased in size by roughly 160%. With the increase in size comes a similar increase in strength and resistance to damage)

The new version DL50 comes with this thismount or thisthis ? or the small sticks are alternative acc ?

Been trying to do my research about the DL vs. the DA. What I've found is that more machining has gone into the DA and the casinings seem to be finer. There are suttle differances, but the real test is at the field. I bought the DL, it will be here next week and we'll see. I've seen a couple DL's in the air and the tranistion from idle to wide open is smooth.

In any event, when the engine gets here I'll let you know what mounts come with it. I'd like to use the stick mounts.

I'm running a DL-50 on the stock muffler and Belray H1R at 40-1. With the Vess 23A I get 7400 rpm on the ground. Engine runs great at any attitude and has plenty of power.

Here is a great tread with photos. You can see why the DL costs less. Even with those little imperfections it still runs great.
