Nope, not yet. Hobby money is tight these days. I also need new elevator servos, at a minimum, for this bird (new aileron servos would be nice too, but.........). Did you ever find out what the actual weight difference is? I am thinking that if I can get an ounce or so from the tailwheel and another couple ounces by swapping out all of my steel allen head screw control horns for titanium all thread "stud" style horns I should be able to help the issue quite a lot. Combine that with the addition of a spinner, and I may just be able to move my CG forward AND get away with ditching the ignition battery. That is, if it all works out like I hope. I'm not going to hold my breath about ditching the extra battery, but we'll see.

Here is a video. I love mine also. I just love another plane a lot more and I can't keep two around. I'd rather see it getting flown instead of just sitting collecting dust.

I still love mine, I was just trying to fund my Decathlon project. After flying it this last weekend and having trouble with getting it shipped, Im just going to keep it.
Now how do I get another 100cc Yak and not piss off the wife?

Re: Bill Hempel 100cc Yak-55M?????

Hi all, just got from the fedex guy yesterday my red and yellow 30% yak from Bill. everything looks great. oh and i just got a call from Tony at desert aircraft that my engine is done and is on my way with a DA fuel dot to install in this bad boy. I need to take a run to the LHS to see if they have giant scale hardware for this beautiful airframe.

Hey Bill, im assuming the canopy issue also pertains to this plane so my first step is to cut some fiberglass and lay it at the places you specified in an earlier post???

thanks guys and wish me luck, i do have the help of a qualified builder but i think we will still be lookin through this thread for alot of the small details.....

Ballance is off (tail heavy) and was wondering if I need to add weight or up thrust. The Yak really pulls to the gear and I cant get the ballance to what I beleive is correct.
Where are you guys ballancing? I'm usssing a DA-50 with pitts.
Thanks Rob-O

My 50cc balances about 3/4" behind the wing tube. I would like for it to be a bit more nose heavy, but it flies great the way it is. The CG is an issue with these things. Put everything as far forward as you can get it. I put a plywood plate on top of the engine box for my batteries. Enjoy!

I used the Dubro pull-pull and control horns. H9 titanium turnbuckles with HD ball links too. I would recommend, and plan to do this myself, that you replace the steel 8-32 screws used for control horns in the Dubro hardware with titanium all thread to save some weight. If you look back in this thread you can see how it was done. Very simple and clean. Also, the weight savings that far back on the plane will help with the CG, or at least that is my hope.
