hi henk
welcome to the giants
as to your first flight 1 x double klippies and coke should get the nerves down just slightly.

the only thing you can realy do is make shure your cg is perfect, open the throttle and see what she does im also getting my 30% edge to the club on sunday for its mayden, nervous as hell

post pictures and let us know how its going

Hey Henk,

Great to have you here!!

As for the maiden, two very important things, CG and make sure your engine is running right. If the motor isn't right, don't take off. Make sure the CG is in the recommended range and you should be all set. Double and triple check that all surfaces are going the right direction, I know it sounds silly, but in the nervous moment, anything can happen.

One good thing, that bird is so big, as long as your throws are set correctly, it won't do anything so fast that you can't recover. Keep everything set to mild throws and fly that sucka'!!!

Maybe post in the Giant scale kits area and see if anybody has any advice on this particular plane. Not everybody checks the "New to the Giants" area.

Welcome to the Giants!!!

Re: Hi from Sunny South Africa

Thanks for all the replies. I fly at Vaal Radio Flyers near Vanderbijlpark Gauteng. I have all the recomended stuff in the Ulti as per the manuel - DA150 , JRDS8411 servo`s, two JR recievers and with a JR9X2 transmitter. I am a bit worried about the servo humming. With the use of the mathboxes I get them to be quiet if I hold a wing (for example) vertical but they start humming again if the wing is turned horisontal (normal flying position). What amount of humming is "normal" on digital servo`s?

Will certainly check the CG!!!!

I currently fly a Hanger9 Twist, 60 Stick, Funtana and some Electrics and foamies

My 8511's hum most of the time, i dont think its a problem, digitals do that, they are holding up the weight of the surfaces. Only way to stop that would be counterbalances but its not necessary.
Remember to do a proper range check with the motor running at idle and full throttle.

Humming is perfectly normal. I love the hum of digital servos right before the motors noise overpowers them.
