Oh man, I thought the 11x was ugly with that "Cylon" design and then the "split" between JR and Spektrum really made up my mind for me since I've got so many Spektrum/JR DSM2 and DSMX rx's, I went to the DX18; one regular and one QQ.... looks like I made the right decision with the apperance of that thing even if it did happen to come in a DSMX version which I doubt it will, but who knows????
In any event I think the appearance of the thing is really bad.... lol My 12X is going to get sold after I get to do some flying this summer and load the rest of the bigger models into the DX18's. So long JR..... |

I could care less what the TX "looks" like. This is a case where the only consideration should be the form and function of the device. Does the design help you to use it as the tool that it is supposed to be? Buying a tool primarily for the way it looks is ignorant. Occasionally style and substance can exist in the same product and that really becomes the epitome of industrial design. The thing I object to most in a lot of these new radios is highly reflective surfaces on the face of the TX that serve to reflect sunlight into my eyes while I'm trying to fly. The fact that JR is not the only manufacture that does this doesn't excuse it. Personally I'd liked to have seen gimbals that use anything other than potentiometers that will inevitably loose their accuracy, and center repeatability over time. Moot point for me. I'm happily married to DSM protocols because of past investment as well as proven reliability, for me anyway, for the foreseeable future. I really think the last thing the world needed was yet another proprietary modulation standard.

they come out with a new "flagship" radio and they are still behind the 8 ball.....
My take on this is that the JR/Spektrum "marriage" went on far toooo long before the "divorce", and JR suffered immensly.....looks like they still have a long row to hoe. |

I fly JR...
I think the screen is too small. How can you have a screen that size on your "Flagship" radio? With all the programming you have to do with a "flagship" radio you need a decent size screen. The looks of it are ok. To say not buying something because you don't like the looks of it is "Ignorant" is and ignorant statement to me. If I don't want to look at it I sure as hell don't want to own it. Supplying a 14 channel transmitter with a 7 ch RX is cheap, if it has 14 give us 14. I don't know what kind of battery it comes with but if it isn't LiIon, LiPo, or at least Eneloop, there's another area they loose. I'm disappointed and I don't even know what the programming is like. |

I really like it to be honest.
It's little brother, the XG8 feels really good to me and i prefer the roller rather than a touch screen. It should feel solid in your hands, that is key for me. I believe it is using a LiFe battery, and BTW; i see JR just released a LiFe battery replacement for the 12X as well. We'll have to wait for the spec's... and pricing. |

I am in the exact same 'plane'. That DX18 is looking better, I am just holding off until I find one I cant live without. Have the 12X then the 11X came out and my pops got that one. I kick myself for not waiting one year to get a radio half the price and double the programming... |

Things on my list of priorities for tools. Most of which we really won't know until the radio is released and people can actually use it. 1. Reliable control link. 2. Ergonomics. 3. Ease of programming. 4. User upgradeability. .........................somewhere near the bottom. How sexy the tool is. |

Any idea, 'rough' or otherwise, of the pricing?

What a sad showing. JR = RIM of radios now. I cannot believe it took them this long to put this thing out.

I guess I was expecting "more" of a "wow" factor in JR's so called "new" flagship.......it just seems like a "little more" of the same old, same old.
JR had the chance to really explode into something new, to regain lost market share.......I just feel a little let down................ and if is much over $500 then it is overpriced as well....just sayin |
