Help!
Eq6' question about ailerons setup

Hi fellows, here is my doubt:

In the Eq6 the programable channels are 2 to 6.

Channel 1 (usually aileron channel) has 2 conectors, but aren't programables.

So I managed to make in my radio (futaba 9cup), channel 5&6, slaves of the channel 1. Then I connected 2 servos to ch.5 and 2 servos to ch.6... I made the set up and everything goes perfect.

My problem is now I want to install a skywriter smoke pump so I need to release ch. 6 or 5 in order to connect it.

My question: how do you make the ailerons connection In yours eq6.??? Do you use the ch.1???

Thanks
JF

You can run any of the Smartfly signal leads to any channel of the RX.
Just use a Smartfly signal lead that has three ports and run it in the #1 slot of the RX or what ever function your ailerons are.

Something that I ran into with my EQ6 in my 43%er was, I wanted to run each of the six aileron servos to their own ports on the EQ6.
No big deal I used two of the EQ6 out going channel with three ports with ailerons mixed over two TX/RX channels.
I then wanted to run the four elevator servos to the same RX output channel without mixing, since I needed the extra channel for the smoke system.
So I made a signal jumper wire to go from my EQ6 elevator output with three ports, ( two elevator servos and the signal jumper ). I then ran the signal jumper to feed another EQ6 signal input wire to feed another three ports from the EQ6.
This actually make five EQ6 ports working off of one signal/channel from the TX/RX.

So with a Futaba 7C FASST system I am running a 43%er with six aileron servos ( mixed over two channels ), one throttle servo, four elevator servos, two rudder servos, an OPTO kill switch, and a smoke system.

In the pictures you can see the single yellow signal wire jumper that I made.

ch 1 is throttle for JR and Airtronics... Aileron for Futaba
Then to get even more confusing JR has aileorn on 2, Elev on 3... Airtronics its Elev on 2, Aileron on 3.

Just plug the RX to the EQ6 in the order that works for your radio

Thanks for your reply

It is very "technical" your solution, thanks for your extensive explanation.
I'll try to apply it, and see how it works.

One last question. In EQ6 channel 8, which is that you have connected?

Regards

The problem everyone has is that the EQ6 channels don't matter and they are stuck on their RX numbering. Don't think of them as 1-6 or 1-12. Think of them as A-Z with A and Z being the ones that supply power to the RX. You can plug any channel of your RX into any of the EQ6/12 ports.

I plug mine in where the wires line up easier and cleaner.

Just think of it this way, the signal jumper is just like a Y-harness from your RX.
Your breaking one RX channel into more Smartfly outputs.
The positive and negative power is supplied by the Smartfly, your just routing the signal to another Smartfly channel input.

Hope this frees up some out puts an allows you to do what you want to achieve.

I am not understanding the question.
Are some of your words missing ?

From what I understand, Futaba RX's can be powered by any of it's channels.
So the Smartfly power into the RX on mine is the RX's channel 3 & 7.
I have been running my planes this way for a few years with not a issue at all.

hmmmm thats weird... my sd 10 runs the same assignment by default as my 9c did,
1 ele
2 aileron
3 throttle
4 rudder
5 gear
6 flap
last four are unassigned till programming
course it does not matter i can assign any stick to any output. my old 72 meg airtronics stuff had a different assignment tho.

I like to use a sharpie, (fine tip), black marker to write the receiver channel on the EQ6 since they never map out exactly. I end up with a smart-fly channel number and receiver channel number.
I also like making diagrams to ease the frustration
Example:
Right Aileron = SmartFly #2, RX = #1
Left Aileron = SmartFly #7, RX = #6 etc.

Instead of that method I used a dab of waterbased paint. Throttle is red, left aileron yellow, right aileron green etc etc. You can then dab your extensions and servo leads and always know what you are hooking upto.

When matching the servos, each servo output is set differently even though it is on the same channel.
The exact servo needs to go back into the exact output slot as when you set it up ( as you guys know ).
So, the servo leads fro my ailerons ( three servos per wing ) I used colored heat shrink on them to designate the location back into the Smartfly. Red, white, and blue. Can never for get those colors and they start from the nose of the plane.
Left wing goes to left side of the sSmartfly ( red, white, and blue ) , right wing to right side of Smartfly ( red white, and blue ).
