Anyone need a set ofcwings for the Hempel Cub? Had a little mishap but the wings, struts and tube are in perfect condition.

I also have a Tru-Turn Cub type spinner for a DLE-30. If anyone is interested in either let me know, I will make a good deal.

Couple questions, what is done with the rod that connects the aileron pocket hinges, do you take the masking tap of and push it flush?

I had to grind the heck out of the end of the strut so it would fit in the bracket, it kept hitting the hex head bolt that holds the bracket to the wing. Also had to grind the other end of the strut to get the holes to line up were they come togther. (Yes I had them going the right direction)

I consider myself an experience builder and feel like there really should have been some type of instructions. Someone that has not put one of these kits together would have a difficult time. Overall I have enjoyed working on the kit.

Hi from germany;

I got the Hempel Cup and want to install a 55 ccm Mintor.

Has anyone a normal KS or MTW muffler build in the fuselage ? I only saw nomal stock mufflers, but to loud in Germany. What do yot think ? 55 ccm Mintor or 38 ccm Mintor ?

Merry christmas

Peter

Peter,
I have the Evolution(MVVS) 58 on mine, and it is a lot of engine. Also a lot of fun.......! But I plan to run floats at a mountain lake so I need more power than some.

I suspect the Mintor 38 on a pipe would be perfect for the Cub, and the smaller diameter would fit the fuselage easier.

I received a Mintor 33 for Christmas, and I am in awe of the craftsmanship.

Either way you'll have fun.

Thor.

Hi Thor,

thank´s for info. I have a 55 ccm Mintor, but would be no problem changing to 38 ccm Mintor (also lighter).

Has anyone a picture with the muffler inside the fuselage. In Germany we can not use the normal stock mufflers, becaue to loud.

We need mufflers like from KS/MTW (exhaust header pipe/teflon connector and muffler).

Regards

Peter

I'm curious what is the best CG set up for this plane ? What should the plane do on the inverted 45 degree up-line ? I like my 260 35% to slightly drop, should the cub be that way as well ?

Thanks

Yes, the airplane should drop towards the nose slightly while inverted on the 45.

Who has done floats? What did you do? This would be my first float plane.

How about electric power? Is 3000 watts enough to hover? Any issues on battery placement/access? Flight times?

Thanks

Craig

The wing struts are kicking my butt. I thought I had them after opening up some holes in the brackets but something is off. They don't line up to the fuse attach points. Any suggestions?

I am not able to look at mine right now as I am not home. Can you turn the inner strut 'wire' around? That should allow the strut assembly to move rearward some??

Looking at mine his inner strut wire is backwards of mine. I found a picture of a full scale and they are tapered forward.
