Yeah make one yourself. it will be tailored to your plane and will fit your needs. I made this cheap little stand for my profile to keep it steady on windy days when sitting in the paddock. Turns out to be a great starting stand, workstand, travel and storage stand. All for less then $20 and a day of time. These chinese arf profiles are extremely fragile and this stand has proven to be a lifesaver.

Delrin, or just keep using the rope I allready have.
To be honest I like the redwing restraint the best. That is what I'm looking for. Something portable and quick to set-up.
Too bad it is on back order.

Sorry, didn't know you already had a lasso.

Here is a fancy one, but expensive. We have a community one at our club that anyone can use when alone. For me, I use the concrete stakes wrapped with pipe insulation. Getting the aluminum one out of the shed and setting it up is a longer process. I have used the rope method in a pinch as well, but it's harder to get it off the stab with the engine running. I usually pound the starboard stake in then wiggle it free and replace it for easy release once started.

Pool noodles work good if you want something a little fatter than pipe insulation. IMHO this is the best, most fail proof way to restrain a plane...sometimes the simplest solution is the best!

hello..ive been fabricating a few tail traps for local club members. its fabricated out of 1" square steel tube, it's tig welded and is of a folding design. the pads are standard pool "noodles". overall height above ground is 15" and the widest inside point is 14". its pretty heavy duty....as in overkill! works great on my 60cc EF machines.....a friend is using it on his H9 100cc. if interested, $85 +shipping. thanks much. rbt in milwaukee

I used some 1" rebar and welded a crude cross shape and sharpened one end with a grinder. I step on the horizontal bar, or stand on it to drive in into the ground. Cover the upright portion with a fat pool noodle. Then they are used to restrain the plane at the leading edge of the wing.
These are both strong and secure and I routinely use this on my 40% Aircraft. The can be wiggled and removed from the ground by hand. No tools required other than body weight.

My solution to a field stand. A little adaptation of my dewalt saw stand lets me work on any sized plane as well as attach the wing to the P47.
