Re: Aviation Models 40% Extra 260 Build thread
Brian, I am not sure whether this exact scheme will be available or not. That is why I asked for the input. If enough guys like it, I am sure they would consider doing it as a stock scheme. The good news is that Sammy would be happy to do this scheme for anyone wanting one whether it ends up a production scheme or not. Just give a little lead time. Hope this helps, Craig
P.S. Thanks Shortbus!! |

Re: Aviation Models 40% Extra 260 Build thread
Today I was the official photographer for the only AM 260, I have the evidence, I will post the pictures and let Craig describe how he felt.
Here test flying a plane starts with a torque roll, the usual stuff follows after. |

Re: Aviation Models 40% Extra 260 Build thread
Elie, thanks for posting the pics!!! Guys, like it says, we finally got some nice weather and I got some free time on Father's day. Got four fantastic flights on the Extra 260. At 39 lbs, this thing flies like it is weightless. Stable as can be in 3D and smoother than anything I have flown for IMAC stuff. I let 3 other pilots take a turn at the sticks and all were very pleasantly surprised. One of them asked me to order him one on the spot. This plane is a definite keeper. Tons of control authority. The ailerons were easily able to stop it from torquing and it was dead calm. Very minimal mixing. Almost none rudder to elevator and a few percent rudder to aileron. Hope the production versions are here soon!! I know the 30% and 35% are available now. Can't wait for a flight report on those sizes.

Re: Aviation Models 40% Extra 260 Build thread
Elie,
I thought you were going to say..I'M LEAKING, I'M LEAKING!!!!! but thank goodness it was I'm filming video. Mate that thing looks like a winner. I have two 40% on order and 2 x 35% on order. Looks like they are the bees knees mate. Take it easy Elie, they are just toy planes. And for you guys who havent meet Craig or Elie and the crew from the hill, the reason for the torque roll on maiden take off is to shake all the loose stuff into the tail so it doesnt get sucked into the engine. You know sawdust, balsa dust, a few leftover screws and bits of wire from making servo leads fit. Just kidding Craig, I think you put that one together very nicely. Kiwi |
