How to hit the Knife Edge Spin???
I don't know if this has been asked before but this single maneuver kicks my ars!
I figured out rolling harriers and hovering and such heck I can do the blender with consistency. But doing the knife edge spin has so far been a very elusive proposition for me - need some help /tips. Thanks, Ronster |

Re: How to hit the Knife Edge Spin???
Enter an inverted spin, hold full down and full rudder with lots of power...
I'm sure there's other ways, but I was practicing lomcevoks this weekend and a couple times, I would exit the lomcevok into a knife edge spin. |

Use all the controls to enter (I use same side for upright entry), play the ailerons and power to establish, the zero out the ailerons to hold the position. Reducing power after establishing the K/E part drops the plane into a flat spin. Bipes hate even thinking about a K/E spin.

Re: How to hit the Knife Edge Spin???
Agree with the type of plane. I cant get it to work with some but can do it all day with others. Some spin at 70 degrees angle whilst others do the full 90. That looks really cool and it descends much slower.
You need lots of torgue and some balancing on the ailerons to hold it in the right position. What plane are you trying it with? Extras do it easy but my cap is hit and miss. |

Re: How to hit the Knife Edge Spin???
sometimes i try it like a hammerhead then when i get to 90 deg. i go opposite rudder full down elevator and blerp the throttle. if that dosent work...try pushing over the top to enter then full down elevator then square the attitude using rudder... does that make any sense??

Re: How to hit the Knife Edge Spin???
Yup. Usualy, the easiest way to enter one is doing a hammer head, and holding full rudder. As soon as the plane has passed the verticle, open up the throttle, burry the elevator stick forward, and use a little bit of aileron initialy, and as soon as it's locked in, slowly let go of a little bit of aileron, intil it is very tight. It takes getting used to with different planes, but with minimal practice, they're pretty easy to nail!
Have fun! |
