Kwilson, could you post a couple of pics of your rudder servo installation as I have just started to put one of these together and I'am using the DA200, and I would like to get some ideas on the build
Many thanks
Lee

Like Kevin said it will take a long time to wear out a CARF unlike other models.

Because of this CARF is my choice for IMAC as well. I ended up picking up a well used yak from a friend that has been around for several years with thousands of flights on it.

The plane has seen airtime for sure and that fuse is worn at the wing saddle area. So we have since filled in the area and covered it in vinyl to help tighten up the mount and protect the remaining portion of the fuse from getting worn away. We just used Black vinyl for this but it could be done with clear vinyl instead.

Kevin can you guess who's plane this is lol

Kevin I will have to check out your new ride at one of the contests. I want to build a plane for next season and I really like the SU CARF. I wonder if it flys similar to the Yak.

I will also need to get with you if you don't mind to do some diff on the ailerons of the yak in the 11x. I have never set that up before. I guess that is why I love IMAC now its all still new to me when it comes to setting up a planes.

Don't worry I don't have 40 degrees of elevator on this plane like my last one lol.

I will be at Punta Gorda. Aileron diff is very easy on the 11x. Is that Butch Hall's old plane?
I have never flown the YAK so I don't knwo how it compares, but the Sukhoi is a totally new design and has been stretched and adujusted in all the right places. It tracks well, has little to no coupling with rudder, and to quote JS "it flies the most like a pattern plane of any giant scale plane I have flown". I attribute that to the fact that the plane is what I refer to as square. 118" wingspan and 118" fuselage length.

Yes it is Butch Hall's old Yak. I picked it up after the spring classic and got it in the air not long ago.

I might just have to think about getting a bigger motor at some point for a SU. It will most likely be that or another 3m yak for next season if I am lucky.

The only similarity on both of them is the quality, I have had a Yak and now have a Suhkoi, I like the SU a lot more than the Yak, It seems bigger too, both of them were with DA170 and R3 pipes, the Su climbs better, rolls better and is more stable than the Yak, almost no mixing or coupling, definitely the way to go is the SU31 if you are looking for them..

5" Airman wheels and yes they have bearings and 1/4" axles. Rex has been great to deal with.

I see he sells the tires separately and I need to get some for my wheels. What is the rim diameter?
