On June 12-14 the 8th Annual International Extreme Flight Championships will be held at the AMA National Flying Site in Muncie Indiana. Flyinggiants.com will be broadcasting all the action LIVE! That's right, FGTV will be broadcasting live from 8am till the last flight of the day starting on June 12th!

The Futaba XFC brings some of the best Airplane and Helicopter pilots in the world together to compete in a first class freestyle competition. These freestyle routines have compulsory maneuvers that must be performed which really tests a pilots skills. To this day, some of the best flying I have ever witnessed took place at the 2008 XFC. I can only imagine that this year will be better!

The Team competition puts two or three pilots together to fly as a unit. This team can contain helicopters or airplanes which makes it very interesting! This area of the XFC is heating up this year with many contestants spending all of the past year preparing.

And finally the most interesting and fun part of the XFC, the NIGHT FLY! With the energy and excitement that was evident at the 2008 Night Fly competition in mind, the XFC has worked hard with the AMA (Academy of Model Aeronautics) to introduce something new for 2009. Through careful consideration from both parties, we're happy to announce that the Night Fly will have an added feature this year.

In addition to an amazing Fireworks show at the end of the evening, imagine having the likes of Terry Hahn, Yuri Higuchi, Marcus Kim, Daniel Katzav, Jerry Smith and others dazzling you with a brilliant light and flying demo. But wait... there's more! Imagine the same show with pyrotechnics mounted on the planes and helis!!! That's right, PYROTECHNICS! With the assistance of the AMA Executive Council, the XFC will be setting new standards for night flying, while introducing a new element into the XFC. The AMA has had a long standing regulation that does not allow pyro equipment to be allowed on the aircraft. With new stringent regulations in place, this can now be achieved!

Besides all of this action, The XFC promises a live band, and a fireworks display on Saturday night and if all this was not enough for the first time ever, the XFC will have a site available for you to bring your own plane or heli and fly. The only restriction is that you must be an AMA member and utilizing a 2.4 frequency.

WHAT A WEEKEND!
I would tell anyone to make it out if you can. It's non stop action for the entire weekend!

Sorry I cant make it this year. My grandparents are celebrating their 50th Anniversery that weekend and that only comes one time in a lifetime. There will be many more XFC for me to attend. Good luck everyone!

If you have any interest in trying out for the LCQ (last chance qualifier), then this is the year. There's a good chance you can make it into the 3 qualifiying spots, as some of the strong contenders for those spots have already received their invites.

There are guidelines for the LCQ on the XFC site if you're interested, so bring your plane and give it a shot!! If nothing else, you can watch a great show and still get to fly. We've got site #4 on the AMA property available for open flying all 3 days. It can be heli or airplanes, but the only restriction is that you're on 2.4.

RECENTLY CONFIRMED:

Jim Bourke, who owns the only existing full scale YAK 54 in the US, will be bringing it to XFC 2009. Although Jim won't be performing an airshow for us, he WILL be offering a few rides in the YAK 54 as part of the XFC raffle. The plane originally known as "Russian Thunder" will be on display, and Jim will be doing some flybys in conjunction with his raffle rides. If you want something to brag to your friends about, this would be it. "I got to ride in it, and I didn't puke till we were almost on the ground!!!" Just kidding, as Jim will only do what you're able to handle during your ride.

I will be there !!!!!
