Help!
Paint Match Ultracoat

Does anyone know the RBG and HSL numbers to match Utracoat orange.?

I took the info I found here
http://www.charlesriverrc.org/articl...paintmatch.htm

and a sample of the covering to a PPG paint shop and they said the numbers did not help them because that type of paint is no longer available. Best they could do was eyeball a color chart.

Help please...

Expand from there anyone. Is there ANY factory paint already made to match Ultracote colors as they have with Monocote? I've not found any. Purely hit and miss.

Klass Kote epoxy paint offers pre mixed colors to match iron on coverings. I've used it and it works quite well.

http://www.klasskote.com/

Please keep in mind though that not even Ultra Cote matches Ultra Cote very well from batch to batch so any paint will be a hit and miss match but usually "close enough". Both Ultra Cote and the paint will also vary in color depending on the base they are applied over. I've also had good luck with automotive paints, usually base coat / clear coat systems and many paint stores will match the covering. Don't just take in a piece of covering for matching but apply it to a piece of whatever it will be applied to such as balsa or ply and give that sample to them to match. Klass Kote is expensive but still cheaper than the automotive paints. I usually apply the paints to a white or light gray primer base.

Take a sample of covering ironed down to balsa to any automotive paint supply store. They camera the sample and it automatically spits out the recipe. Covering changes color after it is ironed if you want the best match.

I just went through this in trying to match Ful-Thane urethane to the Monocote Royal Blue. The color match camera could not pick up the color, as it just shoots right through it. I tried a 4 layer sandwich of it and still no go. I ended up using the color match chart (make sure you look at it under both UV light and sunlight).
Mine ended up matching real well. Codes were:
Car:Spectramaster
Code:BS441
Color: Spectramaster Blue

I know that doesn't help you with the orange match, but someone else might need to match to the blue Monocote.

I agree, I use Klass Kote, and what you do is send them a 1" by 1" sample of your covering, which ever you have, Mono or Ultra, and they will mix the paint for you to match the sample you sent them.
