3D Training

OK,

What does everyone use for 3d training?? (before you start huckin the giants down low) Is it foamies, the simulator, or smaller thrash glow models???

I'm just curious as to what people use to learn 3D aerobatics....

About 3 packs a day(in the foamy not the kind you smoke)
About an hour or so before going to bed on the Aerofly Pro Deluxe
Fly the Cap 6 or 8 flights Saturday, Sunday, and sometimes Friday.

When I got started into 3d several years ago i used glow planes. Now as technology has progressed with the electrics i'm in favor of them. They don't require any messy fuels and can be flow just about anywhere. Some friends and I have even done night flying at malls after they've closed. It's really fun, just don't fly above the lights

All 3 way's are great!! The sim is definately good but you gotta get some REAL stick time to help get you comfortable with what you are doing. Foamy's are a great way to practice because it's convienient. You can burn a couple packs in the evening ususally right at home or close by. And small glow planes are great! Especially profiles which is what I would highly recommend because they are good 3D'ers and also pretty tough to boot!

Rusty,

A good way I got off the old site is with AFPD is use the extra or the edge supplied with the program. They probably fly as close as you will get and dont act like helium filled ballons. A lot of the addons off the web are simply impossible and fool you into thinking you are good.

Go into the setup on the flying screen and there is an option on the menu that lets you play with the settings. Knock the play speed back to about 75% so it slows the whole business down. That gives your dumb thumbs and brain time to make the connections in the early days. Once you get the rythm crank it back it.
