Yes, but you don't need to worry about cutting the signal wire.

The Korean site is Hitec's... I think it was down for awhile but I just downloaded the new V1.13 software from it.

As Mike said post #5822, copy of answer to similar problem another forum:
"Have updated a number of Aurora, Eclipse 7 Pro & Optic 6 Sport at several locations today,
a couple did take some time for HPP-22 to connect.
No doubt for same reasons as in the past, there will be delays getting a connection
over next few days. This as the news has gone worldwide and there are now three
transmitters being updated
, not just the Aurora 9.

15 minutes later: Attached HPP-22 to upload model data from A9 to PC
and received attached
warning that HPP-22 was not connecting to the station.
Hit "OK" and proceeded to transfer Data then email to requestee.
Guess there is an overload at Korea end and users need to exercise patience
until the next schedule as in link provided above, extract:
"Try again later, as posted just a few posts beforehand:
1. Korean ISP will sometimes show "data overload" - normalisation at midnight,
Seoul Kr time = aprox another 10.5 hours. World Clock – Time Zones

Thanks for the replies guys. My setup did however not work as the receiver is situated to far from the sensor station, about 1.5 meters. So in order to check the setup I bound another receiver and connected it to the sensor station.
I know there was, as far as can recall, an issue with 2 receivers. Am I right? I will obviously not fly my plane until I have the assurance from Mike that it is save to have 2 rx's in the plane. The second rx have only the telemetry, 2x heat sensors, RPM, GPS and obviously the system voltage, connected to it, no servos.
So the second RX is transmitting only data back to TX.
Funny enough, I managed to update the Tx software but for the life of me the spectra module won't budge! I still have to do the rx's as well but last night the site was all Korean again. I try now.
Please guys, if you are not to busy to look into my story, I will appreciate it.

There have only been The HPP-22 and the Aurora 9, Eclipse 7 Pro & Optic 6 Sport
transmitter firmware to update as in posts above, i.e. no Module nor Transceiver update
for some time : Current firmware for optimum performance:
. Aurora 9 V1.09(0) 20 Sept 2012
. Eclipse 7 Pro V1.03(0) 26 Sept 2012
. Optic 6 Sport V1.05(0) 26 Sept 2012
. Spectra 2.4Ghz Module firmware V3.01 18 April 2011
(How to update Hitec TX with fixed "modules" such as Eclipse 7 Pro, Optic 6 Sport & Optic 5)
. Optima 6, 7 & 9 Ch Transceiver Firmware V2.02(0) 07 Oct 2011
. HPP-22 Software Version V1.13(0) 26 September 2012 (Details and pictorial "How to" install)
. HTS-Navi Firmware V1.03 31 July 2011
. HTS-Voice 1.03(1) 05 March 2012.

ex FAQ page:
. Optima Transceiver (RX) - Dual Redundant receivers - The first turned on
after the Transmitter will be the recognised telemetry sender.

@Grassie,

this really is a no go! You have to position the HTS-SS (Navi,Blue, or Advance) with the supplied data cable close to the RX. If the required distance for the different sensors then is larger than the sensor cables you have to extend the sensor cables either by soldering a piece of wire inbetween or by using the appropriate extension cables from Horizon. To use a second RX just for telemetry works and supports Hitec, but is a little bit cost intensive. (and of course you have always to switch the RX for telemetry on first!!!)

btw if the Korean site is not available, one can translate the page which comes up instead (if you are able to read the Korean language you don't have to...) Then you will find out that the page was down due to high data traffic. This has been solved right now.

Thanks Juergen. I have the odd rx spare in the garage so I used one today. I took power straight from one of the battery packs to the spc port of the rx. Yes I did switch the telemetry rx on first.
I did a range check and all looked well, so took a short and very nervous flight.
Everything checked out well. The only reading that was suspect is the speed on the GPS, maybe because there is a delay and I did a couple of stall turns. I wanted to check head temps and rpm when the prop is unloading.
I will only use this for spot checks as I am not moving the rx from under the turtledeck. I haven't had a glitch in over 180 flights, so I aint fixing what is not wrong...

Fine it will work !!, but never try to switch on both RX's simultaneously !!. I tried that intentionally, to see what happens. And the result was, that then the desaster happens.....

Thanks for the tip. I wanted to power both from the powerbox but realized it wasn't going to work. So I installed a separate switch for the telemetry rx.

3+ seasons on mine also. Great radio in my opinion. I have to admit to being nervous when they were going through the various software upgrades but my Tx or receivers never gave any problems. I had a minor display / touchpad problem after the first season but that was quickly resolved.

When can we look forward to an updated, replacement model?
