Hi Guys.
On my way to work this morning, I found myself thinking about covering.
My original idea was to cover the plane mostly in Cub yellow, because I already have enough to do the job and obviously this will minimize additional expense. However, after consulting with my brother, I'm rethinking an all yellow scheme. Since I am terrible with colors, what do u guys think. What's a nice, simple covering job that will afford maximum ability to distinguish top from bottom while flying?

Thanks..

* I'm going to post this on the TFC WW site also, since we're getting close to covering some parts.

My suggestion is to have a personal layout that works for you. Lots of people use big stripes on the bottom of the plane and some other thing on the top. If all of your planes have the same graphic layout on the bottom, then you will be good whatever color you might select.

Yellow is light so a second color ought to be dark

Yep. I think the wide stripes on the bottom of the wings is a done deal. I like that idea. Now, for the rest of the plane? Hmmm.....

We'll, we spent about 8 hours on the profile today. We have one wing closed up. It has everything on it EXCEPT the cap strips, servo & linkages. It weighs 1.3Lb. How does this compare to the other wings out there?

All of the shots on this page are of the hatches. We'll have 2 on the top of the wing. My object here is to be tool free on assembly. They're big enough to easily get your fingers in. The spring catch you see is a BVM product. We need one more, should have it late next week. Question... The nylon wing nuts spin on so easily they scare me. They look like they would spin off just as quickly & easily. How are they working in the field, do they need a lock washer?

Pics 9,10,11 are more hatch pics.
11,12,13,14 are of the installation of the wing bolts. Bryan flattened the sides of the heads of the bolts, and glued in balsa pieces wedged up against the flat spots. he then covered the bolt with a third balsa piece. Everthing is glued in with 5 minute epoxy. These bolts are not going to spin. Picture 15 is trial fitting the last of the sheeting for this wing.

About the colors, I've always wanted to do one in Silver, Purple and Green.

Picture 17 is of the closed up wing. As I said earlier, it weighs 1.3 Lb as seen. This is without the remaining cap strips, servo & linkage.

John,
I've found a scheme that is fairly simple, looks good (IMO) and uses colors I already have in the shop. Lemme go find it. brb..

It keeps telling me the post is "a duplicate of one I've posted in the last 5 minutes" and won't let me post it. Grrrrrrr!!!
