Re: NEW Fromeco Batteries!

I notice that they say that they will have a full charge voltage of 7.5v, doesnt look like you will be able to run these without a reg.

Re: NEW Fromeco Batteries!

7.5v is the peak cut-off voltage for charging. They rapidly drop to 6.6v just like the A123's... at least that is my understanding.

Basically a cheap A123 with slightly less current capacity.

Re: NEW Fromeco Batteries!

Hi guys,

That is a screw up on my part, I accidentally had the stickers made up with Full charge Voltage instead of nominal. Sorry about that. The stickers will change on the next run. Depending howmuch flack we get we may change the photos as well.

They are 6.6 volt.

Specs?

Can you charge them with a Cellpro 4S or do you need to use the Fromeco Ion Cube with the new A123 cards?

Re: NEW Fromeco Batteries!

So these are 4 cell batteries with the same voltage as A123's and the same weight as A123's, but these have a max amperage of 20 amps while the A123's max amperage is 69 amps.
Still 2 of these on a 35%er would be plenty.

I wonder if they have the same life cycle as A123's?

Re: NEW Fromeco Batteries!

Joeo78,

Yes basically they are, obviously A123 uses Nanochems in their cells. Both cells share in the same basic principles of chemistry. Yes they are available now as is the Kodiak which is now up on the web page, as is the Lithium Phosphate Ion Cube.

Ben,

Yes you can charge them with a Cell Pro, we don’t have the balancing taps for the Cell Pro but they are on order. The balancing taps will be on line as soon as they show up. Yes you can also use the A123 cards as well.

Hammbone,

We will have our A123 batteries online hopefully middle of the week or so. Yes the Iron Corps, are not as strong but they are really for RX’s and ignitions, which they can supply more than enough amperage for. As far as cycle life, they are more than a Lithium Ion by quite a bit. However they are substantially less than a A123. As far cycle life is concerned, I don’t think anything can touch a properly taken care of A123. Even Valence batteries (Saphion) which is kind of A123’s step sister, don’t off the same type of cycle life as an A123.

Looks like a viable option. I didn't see the prices, though? Since You admit that they don't have the same current deliverability or cycle life as A123's, I assume they will be noticeably cheaper than what A123's go for from other R/C companies?

Can you add a JR balancing lead to a 2 cell pack and if so how much is the cost?

If you add it to the cart, I believe it said $33.50 for the 2400 mah battery, and $15 for the 1200 mah battery.
