DLE 30 Ignition Power

I've heard some debate on power to ignition.
I run 7.4 with regs on my 30% and larger.
I'm assembling a 25% with the DLE30 for my
granson and
was told I could run a 6 volt with no reg that
the module can handle it.

Any thoughts?

should be fine as long the ignition doesn't say 4.8 only. Your 6 volt batt won't charge higher than 6.8 volts.

The ignition is rated for 4.8 to 6v. They don't last as long when using more voltage than they are rated for.

No you cannot run a 6 volt battery on an RCexl ignition. Five cell 6 volts charge as high as 7.2 volts. The RCexl can only handle 6.0000 volts for any length of time. If you run it off of a 6 volt battery you will burn it up. Run a separate 4.8 battery for the ignition or you can get one of the 42% Zeus boards to run it off of. It steps the EI connection down to the proper voltage.

I do know after charging it comes out at 6.4 volts. I'll get a reg on it to be safe.
Thanks for the input guys. Early on I ran 6 volts to ignition and had some rf problems
switched radios and dropped voltage and unable to determine which it was.

It was the drop in voltage. When RCexl say 6.0 they mean 6.000000. LOL

What is it about 6.0 volts maximum that people can't understand?

IT's the 0.
CHI. Checked out a new RCEXL the other day and with 7.4 Li Polys at 8000 RPM battery drain was 800 MA. This in a short time will cause the transistor to go into self destruct mode,It will have a run away and let all of the smoke out then it is no good sorry ignition.Easy to tell RCEXL ignition has been over voltaged.Pull the bottom case cover off and the white epoxy around the transistor will be burnt brown .
Bottom covers is not glued on just peel the sticker back and pop the cover off. Pry stright down so you do not break the aligning pins..RCEXL said this will not void his warranty. This is removing the case cover not the burned up transistor. The transistor cannot be replaced .I can replace the transistor on our CHRCEXL ignitions plus I use two transistors and they will run much cooler.I can build CHRCEXL for any voltage up to 12 volts no reg.Plus can repair the circuit.Any how RCEXL is very good ,just do not use over 6.0 Volts.
