Abridged version, this is a 1971 Mercury "straight from Hell, Satan special. Brimstone edition"
It burps and farts, but doesnt run. I have replaced clearly bad parts, cleaned and fussed. Waited 7-10 days for every part. I have pulled and pulled on this damn pull starter while this motor would toot and poot or run for 2 seconds while I collapsed in the driveway, gasping.
Do not, ever, EVER, buy an old outboard motor off the side of the road without first demanding a demonstration of runability. If its winter, say "I'll stop by in the Spring if it's still here"
Jay, I look forward to your off topic rants...
I think that you should write a book of your adventures!
Thanks for the laugh!

I think he should do a TV show. Have you ever seen "an idot abroad"? they take this guy that has this weird personality and way of thinking of things and just send him to random parts of the world. its a British TV series. we could send Jay instead and do an americanized version.

IMO, a good 35% flies as good if not better than a 40% in most cases (except precision usually). 3D... 35% is definitely better. Just as stable, more responsive and more agile... hands down. Of all the airplanes I have now or in the past, of all sizes... the 35% Extra I have is the best flying all around airplane I have ever owned... thats why I only went to the field with one of my 40% birds twice last year. Competitive in Unlimited IMAC and a 3D monster... doesnt get any better in my opinion.
