The amount of time and money to fix the airframe to be flite worthy is the same in order to just hange it up and that is about $2000

I would be glad to donate an item;
Very generous offer

it needs to be flown in a scale fashion and be presented as it really flys. not hovering or doing inverted passes 3 feet from the deck;
Eh..... kinda attacking mister mac a little....getting personal;

not being a stick in the mud but I lost interest in seeing it or explaining what it was doing long ago;
bad, bad comment....get people mad!

Have you decided what motors you will be putting in? IF you are flying it scale, you might not need 4X DA-100's. DA-60's or 85's would get the job done if flying scale.

As of right now DA 85 the 60s will not be enough to do it

I forgot how much this plane weighs. People are selling old style DA-100's with muffs for around $500 used. In any case- looking forward to your progress!

Wonder if DA has enough old parts to get some engines put together for a reasonable price?Good luck with the build always was on my bucket list to go to the nall and see her fly.

Now there's an idea; have you contacted Dave Johnson about helping out with the engines/mufflers?

As for some of the "fly scale" guys; there's no excuse for having an underpowered model. You don't have to push the throttle all the way forward all the time but if you need that extra power, there's no substitute and that goes for full scale too. That said Mac tried the ZDZ-80's and they weren't enough, the DA85 shakes like nobodies business and doesn't have enough power. The DA100's this model had in it would be just the ticket for the rebuild.

JMHO....

The point I was trying to make is if they would make a break down of the cost of the items needed on the Gofundme site it would maybe help people decide if they wanted to help or not. Just having $8,000 fund will seem like a lot of money to many without an explanation of the cost to rebuild.

Shouldn't JB just fund the rebuild? I know FG got a lot of positive exposure from many Huckfect events featuring the B-29 on the flightline, and that day could come again. With fewer contributors, you could have a more powerful voice in the rebuild process, what components are used, and where/how it flies when it returns to the air.

I have had some contacts talk with the manufacturs of products and there was no luck with helping out with parts and products so after lots of thought and some friends advice I went this route and I am getting lots of backlash for it I plan on having Jim update when fund were reached to make purchases and show the records of the purchase on here to have full account of all funds given

Were all engines and electronics toast, or were they removed before giving the plane away?

I think the $8k just left a foul taste in some persons mouths, but posting the breakdown of costs would likely quell a lot of the backlash.
