Its looking good for tomorrows weather. Got the work on the truck done so we are going to go meet the guy about the solution and hopefully get down to the field for the last flight of the year.
wanting to get at least one flight on the cap before she goes in the hanger for the winter.

Ahhh--- G'Mornin'.....
2nd cup of coffee goin' down nicely....

Man, was it EXCELLENT out to the Tiffin field yesterday.....
I got out there around 1pm-ish, and no one was there.... and on
a Saturday...... wow! I unlocked the gate and went in.....
set up and flew the snot out of my 27% Edge...

Larry the pool guy showed up shortly after I got there.... after all
he's the one that called me yesterday morning and twisted my arm to
get me out there..... lol....
Then after that only 2 more people showed up and we all "tore it up!"...

Felt great to be out there with practically no wind... and only the occasional
slight southeast breeze hitting me in the left cheek.... no jacket was
required and just a nice light sweatshirt..... hardly a cloud in the sky,
and I think I even have some new November sunburn! Not bad for Ohio! Woohooo!!!!

Didn't make it back home untill after dark.... about 7:30pm, I think.........
Ahhh--- what a great day....

We still squeak in a good day here and there....
Our biggest problem is the wind / windchill
here in the cooler months..... I truely do love a nice snow covered ground with
no wind and lots of sunshine and temps around 30*F , while flying a ski plane.... just awesome!
It's been about 3 years since I have had a good winter day that that here though....

They can get 3 flights. I run 2 a123's in my 30% and i think its a little on the heavy side. I recharge every 4 flights to be safe but i bet i could get 5 flights.

Even two of these 2300mah A123 packs are lighter than what I use now, (dual sub-c 5cell 1500mah packs)

But yes, I'm most likely going to stick with one A123 for the RX.... mainly just because I have the
chargers now, and these can be cooked within a nice short time... usually my average
break between flights..... I'm looking to get at least 3 good full flights between charges...
that would be perfect! After all, that's about what I do now.. sometimes I squeeze in
a fourth, but that's cool, with my 3000mah that I carry now....

It has 1 deans in and 2 jr out, or you can get it with 1 jr in and 2 jr out, 1 to receiver and 1 to ignition, put a inline voltage reducer to ignition. There are many options but this seems to be the easiest and safest. Plus as long as switch is off you can charge without removing anything. MPI just came out with this same switch and its $10.00 cheaper. Also if your going to use the cellpro you dont need to use the heavy duty deans jack as it only charges at a maximum of 4 amps. you can just use standard mpi mounting jack and universal servo extension cable.
Yes, I absolutely agree with you on the JR/universal plugs... definately the simplest....
And yes, I saw the Smart-fly & MPI that are set up for the 3 wire ballancing...
those are nice!

(reading through the forums, I saw an interesting post on the topic of the Smart-fly and
MPI switches that are used for balance charging A123 packs.........
They mentioned that if you fly Spektrum/JR, make sure you never plug a binding
plug into the charge jack..... yeah... instant short on one or both cells depending
on how your pins are wired...)

However, the reason that I'm using the micro deans 3-pin, is mainly so Nelly & Karen
don't get confused, (my girls are an awesome pit crew!) ....and then I won't have to
remember either..... is that the JR charge jacks are for the planes that still have
the Ni-Cad / Ni-MH packs (as all my ignitions are still going to use NiMH even after
the RX battery change)....... now the Micro deans 3-pin plugs are a sure indication
that it's A123 charging jack.....

(We have 8 aircraft here, and as of now only 4 of them are getting the battery
upgrades for the time being.... 2 of mine & 2 of Nelly's)

Shouldn't be any mixup doing this way for the girls.....

JR / futaba "servo" plug ==> use NiMH charger
3-pin Micro Deans =====> use A123 charger

The absolute main reason I'm using the microdeans, is I think these
just look cool, and the male/female set is only $1.98 or something like that.......lol
