I consider buying a DA 50 for my GP 27% Cap and i'm wondering if i can run a 5 cell NiMH unregulated or do i need to run a regulator regulated down to 5.2 volts?

You can use 6v with the DA ignition. Not a DLE

Can also run straight unregulated A123 if you like....

I was actually considering running a A123, but i don't have the charger for those types of batteries. Now is there a difference from running a 4 cell nimh from a 5 cell nimh. I don't want to spend close to $90 just for a regulator and ignition batteries, when i can spend $25 for a 4 or 5 cell 2 amp hour nimh pack.
