-ZDZ 60
-Brillelli 366 gt 60 (what happened to Brillelli? do they still support their engines?)
-G62 (I have one NIB, but would have to send it away for the RCign super-hotrod mods!)
-MT-57 (looks decent, but still the new guy on the block!)

Any of those will work just fine, some are a little heavier than others, but if you want the lightest and possibly the strongest, go with the BME 58. You will probably have to mount the batteries forward, but that's no biggie. On my EF Yak I moved both packs to the motor box and it balance out fine.
I just received my Mueller header and ES composite pipe, I'm looking for 8000rpm on a Menz-s 23x8 or Vess 23A with my BME58.
The MT57 looks promising, especially at that price, only time will tell.

You guys may want to look at the new motor from http://southeastraengines.com They just built a new XYZ-50HP and it's making 5.5Hp.. I will be doing a review on this motor shortly. I want to test it against my DL & DA 50cc. But I can tell you after talking with Ron at SERC and Al Lewis it looks very promissing! Go to his website and read about the use of a rotary valve instead of reeds.

8,000rpm on a Menz 23x8, yeah that would work on a Sukhoi!

I was actually thinking about the Byron kit too, that was a pretty scale plane. The weight on that one though....

Try not to take the tach reading too literally. I didn't spend any time tuning the high end beyond getting the engine to run smoothly. There may be some more performance in there, and the engine hasn't been broken in. The PAU props are pretty beefy for sure though. I don't have any other 23" props to compare this one to in terms of RPM though.

I knew ya had to have a good reason, just yankin' your chain a little.

I had the Byron 84" and I weighed the kit unbuilt with all the gear Sachs 4.2 with the Purr Power muffler mount from Byron. By my estimate the plane RTF would've weighed 29 lbs.

I sold it. Everything NIB for $700.

Byron did make some beautiful planes. I wish they had modded their Glasair TD into a Glasair III with retracts. Herve, you listening?

It's good for po-go-ing, never said ya had to be there all the time. A couple of guys are hitting 7900 and I don't think, or can't remember if they did much in the way of tuning header length. Nothing wrong with a little extra power when you need it, plus, people always stop and look when you have a nice ear piercing prop rip

Re: PAU 30% Sukhoi Su-26m Build and Fly

Some of my Sukhoi beat the rest of it to my door today (the rest will be here tomorrow). Ken you'll be glad to know its box arrived here in perfect condition, not a single mark on it.

The cowl is a beauty, and its a good size. Literally I can put my DA-100 in the cowl with a little room to spare (don't use a DA-100 on this plane!!!). Anyhow, after checking it out for a bit I had to put it some where safe, and my cap was just sitting there cowl-less....... introducing the Sukap!

Sorry Ken, I can't hear your smack talk over the sounds of the waves here in Cabo. . Sunny and 80 degrees here today. I think I'll stay and send for my planes.

Ken must not have seen my post yet, because customs back in the US went very well.
